A delightful, witty and exciting interpretation of the Sherlock Holmes world. Set in modern days, Cumberbatch and Freeman are a perfect team, the co-creators, Mark Gatiss and Stephen Moffat have done a wonderful job of bringing the feeling of joy and fun to this show.

Three Doctors are thrown together to help one of them make a decision.

Seeing Smith and Tennant side by side, it becomes painfully clear that the problems with the 11th Doctor aren't entirely due to Moffat's writing. Largely due to it, but not entirely. So... I guess that bodes well for series eight? I can hope.

A private investigator solves mysteries.

Very little holds together if you give it any thought. But if you can get past that and accept that it's a few degrees sillier than they intend it to be, it can be pretty fun.

I have never read the book, so didn't know the story at all. Though at some point I must have picked up the whole what the aliens look like aspect, as I remembered it just before the reveal! I didn't love the series but I didn't hate it either. It was good to get a proper sci-fi plot on TV but some bits made no sense. So average result for me.
