This is one of the most difficult books I have ever read. I still do not understand parts of it. It seems more like a stream of consciousness than a well-planned presentation. The author seems quite knowledgeable and has an interesting perspective, that of a rhetorician, of which I would gladly learn more. There are many references that I do not get. I wish the author had been clearer in his presentation, not assumed so much of the reader, and included more footnotes. I'll have to read it show more again more carefully and follow some of the leads. show less
