Beautifully illustrated biography, simplified for kids.

I'm confused by the choices the author made on what to highlight about Cather's life. It seems a bit simple for kids 7-10, choppy, and the illustrations, while individually pleasing for the most part, lack consistency and almost distract at times. Glad that Sarah Orne Jewett's advice to Cather is included and annoyed that Edith Lewis is referred to as Cather's "friend." In the timeline at the end of the book Lewis is called Cather's "lifelong companion."

Art was lovely to look at, but the story plodded along.
