As a rather cynical Christian college student, I heard that this book was considered questionable for its "unbiblical" view of finding God's Will. Promptly finding it on my dad's bookshelf next time I went home, I discovered it was not only biblical, but gracious, practical, and wise. I haven't seen a book published since that really replaces it well. (Step by Step by Petty is close content wise, but much more dry.)

Best book on 'discerning' God's will that I've ever read, also most Biblically sound. The author refutes the common belief that we can (and should) determine what he calls 'the dot' or God's specific will for our individual life. He shows that God's will has been revealed to us in scripture already and that we're free to make decisions consistent with that revelation without having to worry about 'missing a blessing' or inviting a curse because we're not living in God's 'perfect' will for show more our individual life. For example, per the scriptures God's will is that I marry another believer, however, God does not tell me specifically which beliver. As long as my marriage is to a believer I'm in God's will (at least where my marriage itself is concerned) and don't have to worry that I've missed marrying God's perfect match for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's struggled with finding God's will for their life, especially if they've been told by well meaning Christians that they should be hearing from God specifically about day to day decisions. show less

Very thought-provoking look at what the Bible actually has to say about decision making and how to find God's will for your life. Probably will challenge what you believe about that. Highly recommended.

Wonderful, well researched (and annotated) book on finding God's will. Most importantly, Mr. Friesen is generally very careful to cite Scripture on all points, which makes sense considering the subject (and yet, some authors miss this point in their handling of the subject). I would recommend this book to everyone without reservation.
