It's a perhaps too detailed book about the Myst and Riven games that (as another commenter said) felt like a sloppy and unfinished walkthrough. I recommend watching the YouTube videos on the making of Myst and the Myst Lore and perhaps some interviews of the Cyan founders, because perhaps you will find it more interesting and engaging.

These are the videos I watched and that complete the thinking and the work behind the game and its Lore:

A Brief History of... Myst show more (https://youtu.be/h4wWITMUop0)

How Myst Almost Couldn't Run on CD-ROM (https://youtu.be/EWX5B6cD4_4)

I also saw the trailer for the new Cyan project Firmament and I'm so excited, so I'm gonna drop it here as well for the hype! (https://youtu.be/9-DpB7tXs4g)
