I've been keeping track of my reading in the challenge groups for the last 2 years, but I only ever go into my thread there, so figured that GD is much more appropriate as tho dont post that often any more, I do visit here regularly :)
I also noticed when going through 2010's reads, that there are some books I have no memory of what so ever ??? So going to try & start putting more info in my review thingies, things like main characters, places, magic systems or any other details that will help me remember better...
Here’s my rating system:
= terrible, I couldn't finish it (I havn't found a book yet that would get this rating)
= not so good, wouldn't recommend to others, but something kept me going to the end
= an enjoyable read
= a really good read, would recommend to others
= Wow! It’s on my favourites list & I think everyone should read it!

#2 I agree. I thought that book one was a little slow starter, but after a few chapters it really got my attention and I read the rest for the series pretty fast. Book three was my favourite. The Last Herald Mage and The Mage Storms are my favourite series of her

Yep I really enjoyed it, I was expecting light & fluffy & got so much more - gorgeous & moving which was nice :)

***I'm breaking my usual rule of "not starting to read a series until the last book has been released" with this one, but Brandon is one of my fave authors & this book has come extremely highly recommended...
This book affirmed to me why Brandon Sanderson in one of my fave authors, the only reason I cant give the book 5 stars is its not at all an easy read, takes a bit of thinking - not to mention a bit of wrist strength to keep holding it, its huge & a little unweildy... I got a little frustrated at the jumps back into the past with Kaladin's story & at times wished it had just been written chronologically, then I realised that I didnt want everything to be laid out so easily for me. Despite those negatives - what a GREAT story! Brandon is brilliant IMHO. Such a weird & complex world he's created & such intriguing characters. I cant wait for the next installment tho I'm wondering just how epic this series is going to be???

Nope majkia, you are not alone. Although I am somewhat of a fantasy neophyte. I keep getting tempted and then not feeling like dedicating that much of my reading time to another series. I think I would have had to be younger to start it. :)

#6 readafew - I'm not letting myself read Towers of Midnight yet, I've re-read that series a few times allready as new books came out (which is one of the reasons for my rule of "not starting to read a series until the whole series is available", lol), so decided to wait until it is completely finished & then start from scratch with the prequel (which I also havent read yet) :)

Ya, it's because of Wheel of Time that I have not yet started some of the other long series out there. I figure I can only handle so many at once. Hopefully Memory of Light will be out in the next 18 months. though looking at Sanderson's web site it looks like he hasn't even started writing it.

An enjoyable story with some real Laugh Out Loud moments that maybe only a cat lover would find so laugh out loud. I did find some of his opinions on cats a bit annoying (particularly about pedigrees & the cat show - tho I can see where he's coming from). I found the structure of the story a bit annoying too, probably wouldnt bother recommending to anyone unless they specifically asked for cat books to read, but I did still enjoy it...

I think I'm not a Graphic Novel person, I wasnt interested in the artwork so skipped most of it & that left the story way too simplified, not sure if its just a simple story or its because its a graphic novel & the words need to be simplified to that level, or its just the adaptation that I didnt enjoy - but my opinion of Gaimjans work has always been that its intelligent writing & this wasnt at all. I did enjoy it, but it didnt live up to my expectations at all...

You might want to try the straight version of Coraline. I found the story eerie, shivery and very clever. Mine was a paperback with, I think, no artwork at all and lots of story.

Trudi's written both a prequel and a sequel for that series now, plus another trilogy set completely different. I enjoyed them without finding them excellant. The made up names for basically the same animals really annoyed me.

Really enjoyed the story tho it did take me a while to get through. Some of the things that hapenned in book 2 that seemed unnecessary were proven to be a big part of the story in book 3. I have Requiem for the Sun on my shelf as well, but I wanted something light & fluffy before I move onto that - plus I think I need to get Elegy for a Lost Star & The Assassin King before I start Requiem as they seem to be a trilogy...

Yep I'm loving it :) I was pretty disturbed by a scene where the Alchemist is torturing a cat, but it is part of the story so it didnt put me off the book...
