I know there are more Harry Potter fans out there then there are Artemis Fowl fans, but I must tell you that if you like Harry Potter, read the Artemis Fowl and post which group you like better. My vote is a close tie, but I pick Artemis Fowl. Just saying.

I seem to be the only person in this group who has read the whole series ( I give myself props on that!!), but here's a quick summary.
The main character is this 13-14 year old rich kid who is a super genius, like even more then einstein. So he gets bored alot with the regular world and trys to discover another world with mythical creatures. I know it sounds kind of lame, but it is really well written and if you like series( which we all do or we wouldn't be in this group) this is a good one to get hooked on.

By the way anyone who reads this, please pass the word out about our little group!! Tell a friend or send an invitation to five different people to get the word out!! Please, the more the merrier!!

There's like seven of them so it might take you a while. Read the first one though and we will have enough to debate about, i don't want to give to much away though!! So READ READ READ!!!

The magical world isn't inside his head, it's underneath the earth...and Artemis is a criminal mastermind! I love this series so much....though I have to say Harry still wins haha. I've read the whole AF series, mrmcfluff you aren't alone! I hope Eoin Colfer just keeps writing more books, they are so entertaining.

Harry Potter is my favorite, hands down. Love Artemis, but Harry has more class.

Yeah, harrys better.

I don't know.
I really like how Artemis is literally a genius and finds this whole world. Where as Harry was kind of born into his story. Does that make sense??

I identify with Harry more than I do with Artemis.

34mrmcfluff
Edited: Nov 12, 2011, 11:04 pm

I understand that.
But isn't the whole point of a fantasy story, to get lost in a completely different world??

35Fob45

The world of magic IS a different world. It's a world a magic hidden from people like us.

36mrmcfluff
Nov 13, 2011, 10:29 am

I get what your saying fob.
But I also think that the idea of wizards and witches has been over used. J.K. Rowling was not the first person to think of having a school of magic. Where as Eoin Colfer created this whole world under the ground with a really new and fresh main character.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Harry potter series, i just think that Artemis fowl should be one series in the debate for the great series ever.

hmm. i see your point, mrmcfluff, but being a strong harry potter believer, (and stopping after the second artemis fowl) i have to go harry on this one.
