I just want to know because I just finished the first book and I have quite a few things to talk about...

Her name is Libba Bray. I've only read the first book in the trilogy, and it was awesome! It's basically about this girl in 19th century London who has these mysterious powers. The first book is called A Great and Terrible Beauty.

i have that on my shelf. i started it but the first couple pages and i hated the main character. she seemed so whiny and snobby to me.

Yeah she kind of is. But the story itself is great.

I read all 3 of the Gemma Doyle Trilogy! I kinda don't remember everything that happened but I can probably talk about some things if you spark my memory haha :)

thats great i've only read the first book so far and i really liked it!
9mjrcatgirl
read the other two! it just gets more and more intense haha

I will! I usually don't like to read books set in a time period from a long time ago, but I really liked A great and Terrible Beauty. It seemed very modern.

I read them a while back and it was a definite good read! The cool thing about the series is that it starts out like a typical "high school setting" kind of book (except in 19th century England) where the heroine is trying to fit in and everyone's being mean to her, etcetera etcetera. Then, she discovers her ability to enter a fantasy world where magic exists (but it's addicting and not all that safe). From there, the book slowly morphs into something much much more, with a lot more magic and buttkicking.

I read them when I was twelvish or thirteen. I disliked many of the characters, especially Felicity and Pippa, but I did like the magical nature of it and Kartik was worth every page he was on.

#20 >The first two are around 500 pages and the third is about 850. The third one does drag on for quite a bit but I personally liked it.
#21 >Oh, I agree with you, oh so very much. There were plenty of times where I wanted to skip the parts where Felicia and Pippa were talking. I like Gemma a lot too. She had a much stronger personality than I thought she would. I'm usually not a fan of guys like Kartik who reminds me of the stereotypical "bad boy" but he pulled through and I love him for it :)

Boy oh boy that is a lot of pages for me.
I think I will hold off on them until my reading skills improve. It takes me like 2 weeks to read a 200 page book.

You'll get there! I was like that in the beginning too. I've been reading for so long now that 500 pages is the norm :) I rarely touch 200 pages unless it's highly recommended or I trust the author

I loved those books!! i've read all three, and yes, i LOVE Kartik! (21,22) though, dose any one know how to correctly pronounce his name? cause i still haven't settled on a pronunciation.
26swimfreak14
When I was reading it, I always pronounced it as Car-tick. But I have no idea of the real pronunciation.
