Hi! I discovered the bug some weeks ago. This might be a duplicate.
At this moment this bug can be demonstrated at
Male or Female: Xolo?
1) a1) Search in your browser: "Dr. Max Euwe and H. Kramer."
b1) you may find
Dr. Max Euwe and H. Kramer.
(an emty line)
Tartakower Alekhine Lasker, Rabinovich, Burn, Gr
c1) with FireFox you may select these lines, click on the right mouse butten and select the last option "View Selection Source"
d1) This will open the pages source code. The selection you made is now highlighted.
e1) try to identify in the highlighted area the code
<a href="/author/krogius"></a>
missing link name for /author/krogius
The pages has another example:
2) a2) Search in your browser: "Larry Jeremy; Christiansen Silman"
b2) you may find
A.P. Sokol'skii
(an emty line)
V. Ssosin
c2) and d2) same as c1) and d1)
e2) try to identify in the highlighted area the code
<a href="/author/spanier"></a>
missing link name for /author/spanier
I experienced such empty links in my own statistic. I identified my works with manualy generated links to my catalog. I was not able to fix the problem using "Recalculate author name". This will be described in another bug report.

I am sure there's a bug in here somewhere, but I need bugs written up a certain way—a short, simple way. I simply can't follow this bug.

Both the samples are gone, anyway - Krogius and Spanier are showing on the Male or Female? page for Xolo. He was saying there were two blank lines on that page, which, using page source, you could see should have been showing those two authors.

Both reports /topic/120602 and /topic/120601 date back to July 2011. I fixed all examples I found in my own "Male or female" statistic.
How can we find useful testcases? One needs to examine the "Male or female" statistic for users with many book who where not active for a long time.
Scenario: If empty lines are detected one needs to examine the LT source code. I remember that I was able to identify the affected author url via this method.
Good luck!

This sounds like the same problem that was reported (back in 2010) in http://www.librarything.com/topic/102528, and closed in January 2011 when Tim said "The bug that makes the problem is no longer around and I have now reset all previously-created blank name authors." Whether it's still happening or not I don't know -- I didn't see any blank names on http://www.librarything.com/profile/bluetyson/stats/gender which is a very long list.

Anyhow the problem I reported occured after /topic/102528#2440141 having the timestamp: "Jan 12, 2011, 10:02am ". We may (or may not) find examples sporadical(l)y.
