I have begun publishing my works via the Ebook route and am hoping to find reviewers interested in them. Am I in the wrong site or is it appropriate here to self-promote one's works?

LT is a great site but, generally, it is not appropriate to self-promote here
First of all I would suggest that you check out the following link which gives a guide for authors on LT
http://www.librarything.com/about_authors.php
Then you could check out this group

Also, check the fifth item down on this page:
http://www.librarything.com/wiki/index.php/HelpThing:Er_list
about the Early Reviewer feature.
You are appreciated for asking the question first rather than jumping into self-promotion.
Glad to have you aboard. Welcome.

to echo 2wonderyY, you will find that you are much better received for having asked this question than just jumping in with both feet as a lot of authors (unsuspecting or otherwise) have done. the majority of vocal members on this site see unwarranted self-promotion as one of the worst things someone can do on the site. it is not tolerated and members will let offenders know that in no uncertain terms.
HOWEVER, we do have places specifically for authors to promote their work in a respectful manner. here is an article by an LT Author on his experiences. hopefully it will help get you started.

All the advice here and guidelines throughout the site have apparently fallen on deaf ears/eyes because yesterday, the OP chose yesterday to self promote at http://www.librarything.com/topic/121127# ...

My apologies to all. I'm learning as I go. Through proper forums, I think, I did receive a very nice reviewer from one of your users.

Along the left hand side of the page you;re currently looking at are Your Posts and Started by You links. The first one lists the threads where you've made a post while the second link lists the threads that you have started. Both links come in handy. (At least I like them and use them quite often.)

This author-user spammed my profile with a comment linking to that review yesterday. I left a message with Admin about it, but obviously nothing has been done if he's still spamming!

If I were L.M. Hornberger, I'd be tempted to annotate the review...and it's pretty sure he won't be getting any more (good) reviews from LTers. Sheesh!

>9 jjmcgaffey: I'm L.M. Hornberger and I wrote the review.
I'm not exactly sure why I would annotate my review. The review is of his book, which I liked a lot, and not of the author's activities, which were unacceptable here.

And randyattwood is now suspended....

>11 theapparatus: Yes, I know that.
But I don't understand what that has to do with my book review. I'm still at a loss as to why or how I would even consider annotating my review of his book.

I do consider - and very seldom actually do - noting unacceptable behavior from people whose work I like. In this case your review is interesting, and if I'd encountered it directly I might well have read his book. But since I encountered it through his spamming, I'm not interested in any of his work.
I certainly wasn't telling you to change or annotate your review - I was commenting that if _I_ wrote a good review and the author used it in spamming people I'd be tempted (not sure I'd actually do it, but I'd be tempted) to put a note on it saying something about his bad behavior.
Does that clarify my comment?
