As I said in the other thread, I've been having a lousy week. So what better way to cheer me up than staring at good-looking, sexy men. (I know, I'm shallow, so sue me.)

This is a new thread, since the second part of the old one is about five years old... and has pictures of Heath Ledger, which is painful. :(

Anyway, last night a friend came over and we were watching Steven Moffat's "Jekyll" on DVD. That James Nesbitt is such a sexy man:

P.S.: Will someone (@Choreocrat?) please get me out of my ignorance? James is Irish, but in Jekyll he uses a Scottish accent, right? It's soooooooooo sexy either way, but I want to be sure!

Andrew Lincoln. I'm so sad that The Walking Dead is over and I'll have to wait until next season... :( So in the meantime, he's here in this video speaking about the part in the early days, with his very lovely British accent (not that he doesn't sound sexy speaking like a Southern man in TWD...)

I couldn't decide which picture was better, I know you understand... ;D

Lee Pace, from Wonderfalls & Pushing Daisies. And I just learned from Wikipedia that he's been cast to play Thranduil in The Hobbit. :D

Tyron Leitso, also from Wonderfalls.

Jake Weber, from Medium.

And the wonderful Tim Roth, from... everything. :p

For some reason, those last two always go together in my mind. Must be because they're both English. They do have a slight resemblance, don't they?

I have to say I'm quite fond of Arthur Darvill, a.k.a Rory from Doctor Who. I even named one of my cats after him :)

I should add that a young single friend of mine recently said she had a revelation - she used to be looking for her Doctor, but she suddenly realized that what she really wants in a partner is a Rory - loyal, steadfast, and there when you need him.

Detouring back to bald men - I have a thing for the older but still gorgeous Terry O'Quinn.

#tardis - I agree with your friend - Rory is attractive because of those things.

55Delirium9

#54 He's such a handsome man. And when he dresses up, he's sooooo stylish, isn't he?

The other day a (girl) friend of mine & I went to see Tom Hardy's latest movie -- a romantic comedy thing that it's not usually our style -- just because of the eye candy. It's been a rough month for both, so eye candy is more than welcome...

Chris Pine was also in the movie, although he's just too pretty for my taste... :P

This is good news for those men who think they have no chance of success.

#59 May the odds be ever in your favor!

61Delirium9
Apr 5, 2012, 12:40 am

#59 @darrow
I've realized as I've gotten older (less young? whatever, hey, I'm only 41!), that my "type" is pretty much non-existent. :) I've liked men with hair and without (a man with a shaved head can be super sexy if he has the right bone structure), bearded and beardless, with all shades of eye and hair color, etc.

You know what? I've discovered that it's the personality that attracts me, as much clichéd as that may sound. :P And yes, you can perceive that personality in a photograph... call it confidence, maybe, je-ne-sais-quoi... And as we say here "para los gustos, los colores" (to each their own). ;)

62darrow
Edited: Apr 5, 2012, 12:02 pm

Impressive skills D9. I don't think men can perceive personality from photos of women. We are probably looking for different attributes. This is unfortunate.

#60 LOL. Catch phrase of the year.

63clamairy
Edited: Apr 5, 2012, 12:23 pm

#62 - "We are probably looking for different attributes."
:o) An understatement, I daresay!

#57 - Once again we have similar tastes. (Though I have no idea who either of them are.)

Diito what Delirium said in #61. There isn't much rhyme or reason to my tastes. At least not much that I can discern.

64millhold
Apr 5, 2012, 12:44 pm

I'm a sucker for a man with twinkling eyes. Hairless, hairy, short, tall, lean, rotund, none of that matters if he has twinkling eyes!

Sometimes it works out well, but sometimes it doesn't. That's why I say I'm a "sucker" for twinkling eyes. I simpy cannot resist them.

65Delirium9
Apr 5, 2012, 1:26 pm

#63 Heh :P

@darrow I don't know, maybe "personality" is too much of a stretch. @millhold said it better, I guess: "twinkling eyes," that certain something in the picture (the smile, the eyes, the "attitude") besides the good looks.

#57

> Darrow, no one has said it, but I will! I just looked at your profile, and I think - at least from your photo - that you certainly should be called cute (at the very least). Personality does show through, I think.

I do have a physical type that I ordinarily find attractive; but personality outweighs physicality. A man who is built like I like but is a jerk, is far less attractive than a man who has the personality. A wild-card feature for me also, is when someone is really, really good at doing something. That will turn me on, even if he is not particularly attractive. I remember once, I was at an international festival and they had a cultural performance stage. One act was a group exhibiting Flamenco Dance. One of the fellows was - just in terms of looks - actually fairly homely. But he was so fantastic at Flamenco, that by the time the song ended I was practically drooling.

Please, may I request some Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith?

Twinkling eyes, yes. Smoldering twinkling eyes, hmmmmmmm, YES!

78Choreocrat
Apr 6, 2012, 6:49 pm

#57 is Richard Armitage in North and South, then yes, Hugh Bonneville with a beard, probably getting ready to play Captain Avery in Dr Who.

My pet theory on attraction is that most of the physical things that might make one attractive, for example, a beard, broad chest, charming smile, etc., are not necessarily the things that will make them attractive per se, but they'll be the things that take someone attractive and make them even more so.

Say you like a man on horseback (not me in this case). You're probably not going to jump any man who gets on the back of a horse. If you do, it's probably going to be classified as a full-blown fetish. But an otherwise attractive man who gets on a horse suddenly jumps a few levels in the "OMGyesplease" stakes. Once they start ticking a few boxes, adding one more is likely to put them over the line.

I forgot that Fred Savage is my age, and he *gulp* grew up.

#125 - I saw clearly until I hit refresh. }:o(
Saved it to my gallery.

#126 - The Wonder Years was one of the best shows ever, and he's still adorable!

Now I see Seth. :)

Aw, Fred Savage is still darling.

What's WRONG with me? I can't think if anyone I want to trouble with to post their picture. Sigh.

Oh, here's one, from the American TV series "Life on Mars"
Jason O'Mara

Here's a few of Misha Collins from Supernatural. (My kind of angel.)

Couldn't figure out how to post the actual picture, but I love Lee Ingleby

129 - Is he still invisible? Because I see him. I am mystified by it all, because GoogleChrome changed the way the properties show, or at least it is different (than? from?) Firefox. Too bad I don't really understand what I'm doing, I'm only repeating stuff I've been told to do by more learned people.

Anyway, look him up in images, he's worth it!

132 - I still can't see him. I will google him after I have more caffeine. :o)

donnao - Why such frowny faces? LOL

You'd think someone just told them something in very poor taste.

I like my men serious. And, I couldn't find any photos of them in character where they were smiling.

Hobbits, anyone? His name is Aidan Turner, in case you're interested.

Nothing like hot dwarves, elves and/or hobbits to make one's day. :o)

Isn't that the guy in Being Human? I didn't realize he was going to be a hobbit!
