Ah, that's better! Two that I really, really would like.

Seven e-books and nothing else. Unusually barren month, even by our standards. Hoping for a better May!

I found a couple that I would really like to read. The Wrong Man by David Ellis really caught my eye. It being about a young paralegal murdered on her way home from night class made me realize that I have to read this book. It might make me absolutely paranoid about my paralegal studies night class though.

jbd1 - Do you not send a message to our profiles anymore when a batch is up? Or is that still on your to-do list?

Nothing interesting for me this month. Oh, well, I had a good run of luck last year, and I have plenty to read ;-)

Just received ours!

Eh... .not much that I found interesting in this batch. One that might be helpful at work, but, if I don't get it I won't cry....

>7 gwernin: Yep, my luck when it comes to stuff I want to read on the ER list isn't what it was previously. Not that I've ever chose more than two or three anyway... ah well... back to the unending TBR 'pile'.... :)

The one I really want (and need!) is The Librarian's Guide to Negotiation: Winning Strategies for the Digital Age by Beth Ashmore because that's what I do! I am a licensing librarian and I spend half my time negotiating with publishers and vendors. I don't know what the likelihood is that the Almighty Algorithm will give it to me, though. It doesn't actually match anything in my collection and The Algorithm doesn't know about my professional life.

I also requested The Green Man which looks like something I'd enjoy.

If I get either of those I'll be happy, and if I get neither, that's okay too.

Only one I realy wanted this time: Bring Up the Bodies. Everything else on the list pales by comparison, for me.

I think that there is going to be a fierce competition for that one!

OHHH, when I first made my library entries I wasn't efficient!! Now I see a book I'd love to have to put next to the ones on my shelf but oops! LT doesn't know they are there. **Has this happened to others?

4 I already have on pre-order (it will be fun winning one of those); 2 more that I did not realize are getting published :)

It's a great month for non-fiction again ... I think I put in for six books, and there were a couple of others that I wouldn't mind reading (and would have been requested in a a "thin" month).

Six requests for me also! Looks like such a nice variety to me.

Oh my, exactly 4 books that are available to Europeans :-)

I see quite a few I'd like as well, but as I have still not received my January win from Akashic, much less reviewed it, I'll have to pass.

21Bookmarque
Apr 4, 2012, 8:16 am

why would you have to pass, yolana?

19> Where are you? My count is either 0 (if I limit it to paper) or 6 if I would accept e-books.

BTW two show up in European Union that do not show up in Austria?????

That's a god question. The discrepancy between EU and Bulgaria is even worse.

#21 I think unreviewed books count against you so I wouldn't have a chance of winning. Especially with an unreviewed book from way back in January.

>24 yolana:
I believe that if you mark the book as unreceived it does not count against you

#24 - if it's unrecieved just mark it so in the 'books you've won list' from the main ER page. YOu normally have three month's grace for a review anyway, so you're only just into the 'counting against you period'. LTER isn't a total tyranny, if you don't get the books, you aren't expected to review them.

But if you have revcieved ERs that you've yet to review, yes it will count against you.

A lot of ebooks but only a couple seemed interesting.

The European Union filter seems strange. As far as I can tell, it shows books that are available in at least one EU country, not books that are available in all EU countries. What are we supposed to use it for?

28yolana
Apr 4, 2012, 12:23 pm

I keep hearing that the books are on their way, so I'm giving them a little more time before I mark it. Evidently Akashic and McFarland had a rough patch getting books out in January and also February I think.

>27 anglemark: - Yeah it looks like it's showing anything that has any EU country. When I get a chance, I'll find out from Tim if that's intended or not.

You can mark them unreceived and when they show up, remark them as received

31CurrerBell

I've only requested one, The Killing Moon by N. K. Jemisin. I've only ever won one ER book before (The Land of Decoration), but I very rarely even bid on a book. I only want to get books that I really and truly want, that I think will really be worth reviewing, so I only bid on them if I'm simultaneously wishlisting them for purchase if I don't win.

The Cybrarian's Web, for example, looks like it could be interesting, but no way am I going to work my way through a computer book like that in time to write a quality review.

Nothing appeals this month from the Canadian choices. Besides, need to read my previous wins!

33TooBusyReading
Apr 4, 2012, 5:39 pm

I found two I really want, a nonfiction and a fiction. The nonfiction is Enemies: A History of the FBI and the fiction is Red House. I loved Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and am hoping this new one lives up to expectations.

Ooooh, I love looking at the available ER books, even the ones that don't match my reading tastes!

Some interesting ones that I am interested in. I really am interested in Bring up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel. Will be happy if I win anything.

I'm sure there will be lots of interest in Bring Up the Bodies but I just couldn't get through Wolf Hall and didn't want to set myself up for failure.
