Sorry group, I'm going to post some disturbing stuff (to animal lovers) But I thought I should, after an interview I just heard on TV.

You might/or might not know, we in Aussie are 'already' having some severe bush fires. Global warming? And our Prime Minister is a GW denier! Arsehole.

Well, this firefighter today, kept mentioning how the 'pets' were rescued. Several times. I was impressed.
Everyone else was talking about the monetary value, but that bloke talked about the pets rescued.

This Utube clip is not about him, sorry, it is about one of our worse bushfire. A few years ago.

Guido.

This is here rather than the cat group because there are ferrets involved. As I remember the cat in the comic strip, the one with the dog that wears a wrist watch, doesn't get along with ferrets, but apparently he is not representative of all of catdom.

Isn't it funny. My MAX brings in and Kills and eats a tiny Rattling, and then expects praise.

I DO understand that Nature requires 'animals be killed, often cruely'. I am still squeamish/uneasy.

Why?

Thanks, #119, I have watched many "Attenborough" films and always remember that scene where a Killer Whale 'picks off' a seal from a beach. I still feel sorry for that seal, as I also feel sorry for that tiny Rattling Max kills & eats. I do accept '...nature red in tooth and claw...' But.

ETA. One of the reasons Darwin rejected religion (but his Wife didn't) was the question of cruelty in nature. Specifically the question of the spider 'paralizing' (sorry spl.) wasp.

121DanMat

"Cats are, first and foremost, natural-born hunters, as recent studies of the effects that feral and indoor-outdoor cats have on bird and rodent populations have shown. Cats allegedly kill billions of small animals every year in the United States alone. But that doesn’t make them evil — just extremely well-adapted to a carnivorous lifestyle.

Though they were first domesticated nearly 10,000 years ago, cats retain the keen hunting instincts of their wild ancestors, as well as the simple gut that allows them to digest raw meat.

However, many cats don't eat their prey, and sometimes they don't even kill it. (If you've ever had to chase an injured squirrel out of your kitchen, then you've seen this behavior firsthand.) Spayed female cats are the most likely to bring gory gifts to their owners. But they have their reasons.

In the wild, cat mothers teach their young how to eat their food by bringing home dead or injured prey. Domestic cats are no different. But in this modern age of spayed domestic cats, many female felines have no young to whom they need to pass on their hunting wisdom.

By leaving a dead animal on the back porch, your cat is acting out its natural role as mother and teacher. You, her loving owner, represent her surrogate family. And frankly, she knows you would never have been able to catch that delicious mouse on your own."

The Teddy Bears' Picnic Lyrics
If you go down in the woods today you're sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today you'd better go in disguise
For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain
Because today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic

Every Teddy Bear who's been good is sure of a treat today
There's lots of marvellous things to eat and wonderful games to play
Beneath the trees where nobody sees they'll hide and seek as long as they please
That's the way the Teddy Bears have their picnic
Picnic time for Teddy Bears
The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today
| From: http://www.elyrics.net |
Watch them, catch them unawares and see them picnic on their holiday
See them gaily gad about
They love to play and shout
They never have any cares
At six o'clock their Mummies and Daddies will take them home to bed
'Cause they're tired little Teddy Bears

If you go down in the woods today you better not go alone
It's lovely down in the woods today but saver to stay at home
