I have at least nine copies of her six complete novels...how many of her books do you have?
2randomarbitrary
Oops...posted before I finished my message...
I have 3 copies of P&P. One was the first Austen book I read -- for Freshman English in college. I love the feel of that book -- it's heft, the way the pages fall, there are just certain books that feel good when you are holding them, know what I mean?
The second I found in a remainder bin and was published by Tor Books, and I bought it for the blurb on the back cover...
What's a Girl to Do?
Scatterbrained, social climbing Mrs. Bennet makes one demand of her five daughters.
Marry. Marry well. Marry RICH.
Mrs. Bennet's in hysterics, Mr. Bennet's in his study, Lydia's eloped with a soldier and Jane's heart may well be broken. Will any of the Bennet girls find true love and fortune?
It's Jane Austen as a Harlequin romance...Plus the picture on the front looks more southern belle than P&P.
The third P&P is the Barnes and Noble edition -- it's smaller than a paperback, so it's a great size to travel with.

I have two copies of Pride and Prejudice. One copy I used in a college class and is filled with clear see-through post-it notes. The cover features Jane holding a letter, with Darcy blurred into the background. My other copy has the cover from the newest P&P movie on it.
4jillmwo
I have P&P in three different editions -- one is the annotated version, one is a collector's edition with artistic illustrations and the third is an EveryMan's Library edition.
I have S&S in two editions -- again, one is an Everyman's Library edition and the other is a smaller, cheap edition (with modern chapter breaks) that I picked up from a remaindered cart.
I have Mansfield Park in both an Everyman's Library edition and a smaller cheap edition (similar to the S&S listed above).
I have Northanger Abbey, Emma, and Persuasion in only the one EveryMan's Library Edition. And I have the lesser works in paperback form.
So there you have it. I guess it shows which ones I like the best.

I have a complete works of Jane Austen in hardcover, and I sporadically buy paperback copies as I see them at sales for my gift library. Unsuspecting friends come to my house for what they think is an innocent visit, and boom! before you know it, they are leaving with an Austen book.
Yes, I am evil. He he he.

Excellent, wisewoman...if my kids ever leave home and i have a guest room, perhaps the books there will all be Jane Austen...Much better than the last guest room I stayed in, which had a bad even for Harlequin Romance as reading material...

I have two PandP because I lent one out and couldn't stand to be without it. I finially got the first one back months later. One has all my favorite quotes underlined.
Ever other work I have one copy, but I am eyeing those box sets that are out there.

Oh, don't talk about box sets...I didn't know they exist...I still have two of the A&E P&P adaptions -- one VHS and one DVD. I have no reason to keep the VHS, but I haven't gotten rid of it...
And box sets of Jane Austen...I would have to get rid of at least some of my other copies of Jane, and still my husband would probably not understand how I could possibly need a boxed set of Jane...

I to have the VHS and DVD A&E BBC P&P (whew, acronyms!). It is just to hard to part with such good friends. It took me years to get rid of the tape I made of the original broadcast. I even loved the commercials!
10jillmwo
Well, if we're going to talk about DVDs and videos, I think I have P&P in each of the different movie, television and cable productions. I have all of the BBC adaptations on DVD, but only Mansfield Park and S&S in video formats. (which I agree with commenters 8 and 9 above, in that video is one of those formats that you may have but tend to not use...)
I fear I'm somewhat grasping about the DVD sets. I don't lend them out.

Great to see I'm not the only one with doubles. It makes me smile. :-)
My doubles:
Love & Freindship - in English: Robert Frederick Ltd, and one in Spanish "Amor y Amistad" (Alba Editorial).
Persuasion - Robert Frederick Ltd and Penguin Classics.
Pride & Prejudice - in English: Wordsworth and in Dutch: "Waan en Eigenwaan" Het Spectrum.
Lady Susan / Sanditon: 1975 Peter Davies Limited and Penguin Classics.

Just one duplicate: Persuasion, from Modern Library Classics and from LibriVox.

Yes, I have the paperbacks I first read but I have been slowly collecting blue leatherbound ones from collins and glasgow when I find them at book sales. I also have some Norton Critical editions from undergraduate classes.
Then of course there are the film adaptations.

I have multiple copies of Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility. I have all of Austen's works in the Everyman's Library edition, which match nicely on the shelf. Gut I have the The Annotated Pride and Prejudice as well as an illustrated collector's edition of the novel. I have two inexpensive hardcovers that are duplicates of Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility and I have several Oxford University Press paperbacks that contain her minor works.
15AnneElliot1
I am a bit obsessed and will buy multiples of all the books, especially if they are illustrated. Abebooks is good for finding ones I haven't got and I love rummaging in charity shops.
16chamekke
AnneElliot1's comment about wanting illustrated books has made me wonder... are there any graphic novels (manga) of Austen?
17AnneElliot1
Gothic Classics vol14 has an illustrated Northanger Abbey graphic novel-there are details on Austenblog. I haven't seen a real copy but it looks quite interesting.
18chamekke
I found it on Amazon.com:

You can even search inside this book to preview some of the pages.
Thanks for letting me know... I'm going to watch out for this one!

I really try not to have duplicates of any book. But today I saw new (to me, anyway) editions to Jane Austen. They're called the Winchester Austen. They are black, with rounded corners. The cover is plain--a embossed (black on black) trio of small flowers, and Jane Austen written in script in gold foil, and Northanger Abbey written in red foil. Each edition has the title in a different coloured foil. The spine has the same writing. Inside there are a number of introductions and a colour map and illustrations. There is an elastic closure. I'll pass my perfectly adequate Dover edition along to my sister-in-law. I'm tempted to go back and buy the entire set--they'd look so great on the shelf. There are only another 5 books . . . I can justify that purchase, can't I?
20compskibook
Go for it Nickelini! :) It sounds like a nice set. I will have to keep an eye out.
22Nickelini
I just finished up a Shakespeare class, and my teacher had Hamlet in manga. There are a few other Shakespeare plays too (Romeo and Juliette for sure)--can Jane Austen be far behind? (if it doesn't exist already)
23Nickelini
#20 - Yes, I think I will go for it. After all, if one is going to own all of Jane Austen's novels, shouldn't they match?
24Marensr
Nickelini did you come to a group of book lovers to ask if you should buy books? Of course we'll tell you to buy them.
26compskibook
I am probably dating myself (or showing my ignorance:), but what is manga?
27fannyprice
There actually is a comic of Northanger Abbey! It is contained in the book Gothic Classics: Graphic Classics Volume 14. Given my love of this book, I will definitely be picking it up at some point - I'll make sure to report back.
>26 compskibook:, compskibook, manga are Japanese comics. Sometimes I think the word is just used as shorthand for comics or graphic novels.

I have two copies of Northanger Abbey, three of Pride and Prejudice, and two of Emma.. i also have multipe copies of the movies (the same versions, wierdly) but that wsnt the question ;)

I just got a really nice book at Barnes&Noble yesterday. Their new Jane Austen: Seven Novels. It's leatherbound, but the cover detail is beautiful, and for only $20 I couldn't pass it up. It does look odd next to my dogeared copies, but I still love it.
31Hollister5320
Nickelini - I hope you did buy those books because they sound beautiful and would look lovely on a bookshelf. I felt my inner book nerd come out as I pictured them on my own shelf at home. And besides, you can easily justify purchasing the books as investing in a collector's item... that's how I explain my insane and unnecessary Shakespeare collection. (I have Romeo and Juliet about five times over, not to mention the other "classics.")
Kegsoccer - I too have that collection because the cover work drew me.

I have two copies of Sense and Sensibility because I had to get an edition with some specific essays in it for a class. There are quite a few sets and editions of many of her books that I would love to own, but I have to budget my money so carefully right now!

#31 & others: Okay, I broke down and bought the rest of the Winchester Austen series today, so I will indeed have a lovely arrangement in my book case. Here is the link to the books if you want to see what I'm talking about:
http://www.worthpress.co.uk/book_13_info.html
By the way, you can buy these at the Jane Austen Centre in Bath for 12.99 each in British pounds. Lucky me, I paid $12.99 in Canadian dollars, which converts to only 6.45 British pounds. (For anyone living in Canada, I got them at Coles)

37shootingstarr7
I've got 4 copies of P&P (the Penguin classics version was the first JA I owned, an ex bought me a hardcover version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle on the dustjacket, the third was a Norton, and the fourth is a beautiful illustrated hardcover- with a slip case!- I bought from the used booksale at the library I worked at for $2). I also have 2 copies each of Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Sense and Sensibility. I'd eventually like to replace my Penguin versions of Persuasion and Mansfield Park with Nortons, but I don't know that I will anytime soon.
38Ann_Louise
I have two copies of each, one paperback "reading copy" (the new pbk Borders series), and one hardcover (old state street press, also Borders).

I wonder if I'll be able to find those in the U.S.
They actually look like Moleskines.

May I ask why? Sheer devotion? Accident? I'm curious.
I have multiples right now because I've just bought new Wordsworth editions of the ones I already had, and bought the three I was missing (Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and S & S). LT inspired me to get a nice collection. So, I'll sell off the multiples soon.
I have one old P & P from the 1930's or so, though, that I think might have been my Nana's when she was young.

I bought two more since posting the earlier message, so that makes seventeen.
I'm interested in book history, and this is my favourite of Austen's novels.
There are still a few 20th century editions I'm interested in collecting, but I don't expect to get any more that are older than the 1883 one I have now. They are just too pricey.
I've got multiples of everything else as well, but that's more to do with just accumulating books....

I have 2 different editions of Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, I just bought another edition of Persuasion (and am currently reading it, I love the new edition that I bought) and so far only two editions of Pride and Prejudice (I wonder if there's one with Colin Firth on the cover...hmmmm)
46mansfieldreading
I have two complete sets of the completed works (one a modern library trade set and the other in trade paperback as well) which I'm going to slowly replace with a hardback set (possibly everyman if I can't find anything better)
47Ann_Louise
I have two main sets of the big six novels - not including Sanditon and other minor-ish stuff - only single paperback copies of those.
(1)State Street Press set - hardcover edition from Borders-beautiful set, cream cover with green spine -the "collection" set
(2)Borders Classics set - QP - my main reading copies
Along with extra paperback copies of P&P, Northanger Abbey, S&S, two extra pap. of Emma - Oxford Worlds Classics and Movie Tie-In QP with Paltrow version.

Since I started this thread I have lost the small version of P&P to my son, who had to read it for school and really really liked it.
After years of giving me crap over Austen, he finally reads P&P and likes it. So I gave him the little pocket version of the book.
Nickelini!!!!!!!!!! I love the looks of those books at the link you posted. I have an entire shelf of Austen and Austen knockoffs (and just ordered Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, so another book for my shelf), but now I desperately want those Winchester Austens.
But I have to get rid of some books...my husband is Army, and thus we move every few years, and if we have too much stuff, we have to pay for the excess weight. And since we currently are living in Anchorage, moving back to the lower 48, excess weight could really add up.

14 Annotated P&P! I had no idea! I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.
My younger daugher has a flame who looks like he might be serious since he bought her a new hardcover edition of P&P to replace the paperback she'd been dragging around since high school. It saw college and two years in the Peace Corps, poor thing.
compskibook, I attempted P&P&Z. Couldn't get past page 10, if I made it that far. If you have to try it, go to the library.

compskibook...I will be happy to. I just got an email from Amazon that it should be shipped next week. I am hoping I get it before I go to my family reunion -- I will need some interesting reading for the flights and layover.

Nickelini!!! I found the Winchester Austens at a Costco in Minnesota, and so now I have another copy of P&P and another of Sense and Sensibility. They are such neat books. If they show up at my local Costco, I think I may have to replace some of my other lesser copies with those...

As for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies -- here's my review:
It's Pride and Prejudice with zombies. Jane Austen purists hate it, without even having to pick it up. I am quite certain its very existence highly offends some. And those who love Pride and Prejudice but are not into zombies or horror movies -- this is so not the book for you.
But. For that probably tiny subset of people who love Jane Austen and Shaun of the Dead -- it's a fun read. If you pick this up assuming this is going to be Elizabeth and Darcy with zombies and dang how could that go too wrong, that's the right attitude.
It's P&P with zombies. It's not great literature. It's entertainment. There were several times that I thought "no way. That character would definitely not do that", but mostly it was fun. I picked it up with very high hopes and I was not disappointed...I assumed it would be funny and goofy and not completely faithful to the original.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be on my shelf with all my other Austen stuff, as soon as my nieces and sister give it back...
