I found this option while playing around in the settings this morning, and thought I'd go ahead and increase my display settings from 50 to 200 books per page. Now it's only showing 40 books per page, no matter how many times I save and select something else on the settings page.
2timspalding
Thanks. I'll look at it.

there are 2 places for this now. I changed one and now i'm stuck on 50 books. Tried to change both to the same number, no dice. The dot that was in the 200 option on the display style settings page is gone now as well from both pages. No dot remains after saving changes.

Okay, next up. Sorry.

>5 timspalding: My saved display settings for style A (the only one I use) has changed to some default. I am unable to save the columns of my choice. Also, the default display style for visitors is stuck on "none". Is this due to the new Circulation feature you are working on?
7timspalding
It's tied into a reorganization of those pages, which was partially about adding the circ stufff. I'm surprised that it's acting up that badly, since it works for me. But I'll get on it soon. I have to run right now, though.
8timspalding
Okay, it's fixed. Sorry about that. It should be good now.

>8 timspalding: I still can not change my display settings back to what they were and the visitor and #books will not save. I have tried from both my catalog and profile. What is now displaying for style A in my catalog doesn't even match the default that is showing in settings. I was trying to add/save the "lending" column to style A when the whole thing went bad.
Prior saved Style A was Cover, Title, FirstLast, Date, Tags, EntryDate, Collections, DateFinished, (my)Ratings.
I have refreshed and cleared my browser history. Win8 IE10.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
ETA: reopened bug

Okay, so.
1. If you go here: https://www.librarything.com/editprofile/styles
2. And change style A to add something, say, the "date" field
3. And then click save.
4. It goes away?
Ditto "Default style for visitors" and "Books per page"?
I'm just not seeing this. It work perfectly for me. Anything else I'm missing? Anyone else getting this?

>10 timspalding: Yup. I tried again to add something. Does not save. My catalog display is showing cover, title, firstlast, date, tags, rating, entrydate.
The settings for style A are stuck on title, firstlast, date, tags, comments.
I also tried to change the other styles B-E. Nothing saves.
ETA: When I save I am returned to my home page.

Where did you start out? Start from your home page and click "settings"?
Can I get someone else to say if this is happening to them? I need to understand if this is something weird about you, or something weird about me :)

>12 timspalding: No. I first tried from catalog, then I tried from profile. I just now tried from home page. Nothing saves. Also my #of books to display on my profile is stuck on 40 (from 20) and my catalog displays 50 books per page.
14timspalding
Hmmm. Maybe this is a caching issue on the page. If you change it to something—say 100—does the catalog itself show you that number?
15MsMaryAnn
>14 timspalding: No. I changed to 100 and the button is stuck on 40 and catalog displays 50. Aren't you supposed to be off the clock. I can wait!
16timspalding
Ha. Well, I'm running out in a second.
Anyway, anyone else chime in, if you can. If not, I'll be trying on other machines i have access to. And I'll try your account.

It's working for me, FF on Win7 Pro. The one odd thing is that I had it set to 200 before but before I changed anything on the page there were no radio buttons for number of books per page selected and I was getting 50 books per page. After changing it to 200 the changes stick, and also adding a field to the A style worked.

>20 AnnieMod: How odd since Collectorator in post 18 is using FF. I'm sure our fearless LT Leader will get to the bottom of it. Anyway, this has been an opportunity for me to explore other browsers.

>18 Collectorator:Wait. One thing strange is that after you went to settings before, and clicked save, it would take you directly back to your catalog. Now it just stays on the settings page and you have to click Your Books again
That happened to me when I used that page for the first time in a long time a few days ago, but by the next day it was taking me back to the right page again. Also the font inside the drop-downs was tiny then and it is still tiny.
Using IE Developer Tool I can see that the font size is 10px due to this line
div.friendactions, div.friendaction-ed, div.friendother, select { font-size:10px; }
in https://www.librarything.com/minified/css/e53d3af29027c210d4a2d7cb58f9d380.css
The font size of the line above the drop-downs is 12px.

I'm having this problem in Win7 IE9 (I know ancient.)
Won't hold changes to display style. When I click save, it takes me back to my dashboard.

Let's make it funnier.
FF/Win 8.1 - it does not stick - up until last night; no access to this machine until Fri
FF/Win 7 - it sticks properly this morning.
Same version of FF (it is on autoupdate). That makes no sense at all... even I can see that.

https://www.librarything.com/settings/yourbooks - doesn't stick, stays on 40
https://www.librarything.com/settings/styles - sticks.
But when you go to /yourbooks , while it's still showing the dot in the 200, when you save that page without changing anything, it's back to 40.
eta: Opera 27 and Opera 12.17

I also had issues with saving my preferred display style - I was using IE9/Win 7. Instead, I used another browser - FF/Win 7, and I could change the display style and save it with no problems. Now if I login to my LibraryThing account with IE9/Win 7 the display changes have been retained - whew! Obviously an IE problem!
