I did this on my own post and got many positive comments that perhaps we could this for the entire group. I thought it was nice to reflect after 3-4 months. What was your top 5 reads for 2016?

2016 was a lean reading year for me but these were the best of them:
His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet
The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth L Ozeki
Wolf Winter by Cecilia Ekbäck
1Q84 (1-3) by Haruki Murakami
1Q84 was started at the very end of 2016 and finished in early January 2017, before I started ROOTing. I didn't so much enjoy it as see it as a feat of endurance.

In no particular order:
Among Islands by Jim Crumley
Never Mind the Balkans, Here's Romania by Mike Ormsby
A Country Doctor's Notebook by Mikhail Bulgakov
Nort Atlantik Drift by Robert Alan Jamieson
Rain: Four Walks in English Weather by Melissa Harrison
I also want to include The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon, but I'm not sure which one of the above I'd evict to include it!

Samarcande by Amin Maalouf
The last chronicle of Barset by Anthony Trollope
The small house at Allington by Anthony Trollope

I couldn't possibly put these in order, but -
We Who Are About To by Joanna Russ
My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier
Disappearance at Devil's Rock by Paul Tremblay
Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente
Show Your Work by Austin Kleon
Oh dear, that's only the last half of the year. I had a good reading year, I guess!
