I know this thread kind of died, and everyone is going to think this is weird, but the cutest leading man I can think of is Evan Adams, who some of you may remember as Thomas-Builds-the-Fire, the "Indian nerd" from Smoke Signals. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, but I love his big grin and I have a thing for guys with braids.

Edit: I forgot to mention, Smoke Signals was based on a story from the classic of Native American literature Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie. Besides being an incredible read, it wins the prize for "Best Book Title Ever."

#76 Are you reading my mind or what? I just finished reading TKaM, and there is absolutely no one finer than Gregory Peck, or the character Atticus Finch, for that matter.

88oh2read
Mar 2, 2008, 2:37 pm

#77- I don't have a clue where the Atticus Finches of our real-life times are, but another great character along that line is Jake Brigance. He takes the case of the black man who shoots two white men in modern-day Clanton, MS, in A Time to Kill by John Grisham.
Played in the movie by Matthew McCaunaghey *pant, pant*. Probably his best role ever, in my lowly opinion. Also John Grisham's best work.

I know this isn't a popular stance to have, but I agree with GeorgiaDawn upthread (#66). The new Darcy is hot! My husband has had to deal with me drooling over him for the past few months since I saw the movie. I even ordered his british tv series (MI-5) just so I could see more of him. That is one of my favorite movies!

Stephen Fry is mine, though. Since he's gay and has no interest in me in that way, and I'm straight and don't want to do HIM, it's the perfect arrangement...

Hugh Laurie looks so adorable in that picture.

#153 - See, I think he looks like a dweeb. ;o)

This is completely disregarding the "Classic Books" theme, but this is Roy Dupuis, French Canadian actor who has played a few real life characters in his time. You may perhaps forgive the theme disregardation (;-)) just because he too, like so many of the others here, is purdy. :D

Ans speaking of Gerard Butler, he first appeared on our screens here in the US in Attila

Oh, very nice additions, Smitheee!

#154 & 158 clam & littlegeek: Well, I hardly even notice Hugh in that picture, since I'm just sooo in love with Jeeves. *sigh*

I vote for Edward Norton in The Painted Veil, or Daniel Day-Lewis in The Crucible.

And also Christopher Lambert in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, but that could just be because I'm weird....

@158 - you are most welcome

@160 - would visual aides help in your choice?

Edward Norton - The Painted Veil

Daniel Day-Lewis in The Crucible

Christopher Lambert in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan

Ooh Ooh Ooh. Just thought of another (I can't believe I forgot this one!)
How about Ioan Gruffudd in The Forsyte Saga

(I couldn't find a decent sized one from the show so this will have to do.

Also, Ioan as Horatio Hornblower.

Gotta love a man in uniform...

Wasn't he Mr. Fantastic in the adaptation of the not so classic Fantastic Four films?

Yes he was. Why oh why did he agree to do those films? Oh well, I suppose we all have to pay the bills somehow. He was also in some other shockers like 102 Dalmatians.

102 Dalmatians? That takes me back. Down traumatically bad memory lane...
