The first ever LibraryThing Halloween Haunt (pt. 2)

A grand total of 1,575 members joined in the fun and found at least 1 candy.

1,265 members found at least 5 candies, and will have their accounts upgraded to lifetime memberships.

932 members found 12 or more candies, and have a chance at winning a LibraryThing t-shirt or stamp.

785 members found all 15 candies, and will be entered into a drawing for a set of LibraryThing/TinyCat coasters!

Prize winners will be drawn and announced shortly, so stay tuned! Profile badges and account upgrades will go out by Monday.

It was a spooky weekend around here! Some fun stats, with a bit less than three days left in the Haunt.

1420 members have found at least one candy. I'm floored—I think this is more than I've seen in any of our previous treasure hunts like this

Candy #7 continues to be a stumper, with about half (729) of the trick-or-treaters finding that one.

Dear Group,

I stopped at 13. I am already a life member and wondered if I can transfer my new "life membership" to an account which I have just set up to hold things like "Games" etc.
which I don't want to be counted in my overall totals. I had this debate quite a few years ago in "Recommended Site Improvements"

PS. Can I link my account to my New account, so that I can travel between the 2 easily?

There's no way to connect LT accounts such that you can switch back and forth, I'm afraid. My personal solution: I use two different browsers. One's always logged into this account, the other is on one of my test accounts.

I'm so glad that I logged in and caught this while it was still ongoing! I'm so excited to see the Candy Corn badge after the update. Thanks for the fun; looking forward to another one!

The Badges inspired an early opening of our little 3.5 oz bag of Candy Corn.

Brach's is supposed to have an Organic version this year, but we've not found it.

I'm in the UK, but a few years ago I had an american manager that whenever he travelled to the US around Halloween always brought back bags of candy corn: now I really miss that, hehe - addictive sweet plastic food once a year :)

Given the sheer number of successful trick-or-treaters, I'm also upping the number of prizes, to 10 winners each for t-shirts/stamps or coasters, for a total of 20 prizes.

Well, with 785 members finding all 15 and only 10 prizes, nobody is likely to win one - one chance in 78 isn't "likely" by any definition. Do you mean last month's winners are excluded?

As lorannen says in post #1 of this thread, anyone who found 5 or more candies will have their account upgraded. (If you're already lifetime with the account you found the candies on, and have another account that you'd like to have upgraded, they can usually arrange that too.)

It may take a while, though. Many things on LT that seem like they ought to be straightforward and automatic turn out to require manual steps, so it might be a few days.

You weren't guaranteed a set of coasters, merely the chance of winning one. The winners of that drawing were announced in >17 lorannen:. (Lotteries, eh?)

As for your question about the account for your children: message @Lorannen with the account you'd like to upgrade and she'll help you out (as she said in message >30 lorannen:).

I looked at that page like 10 times and never noticed it said a drawing. Wooden head, ya see. Sorry!
