I only see that I can use scan to add books to the Library Thing application. I am double checking to make certain all my books are listed in the library. I only see the ability to scan to add to the library. If the book is already in the library, this creates a duplicate. Any suggestions?

You could scan the book isbns and put them into a spreadsheet and compare with the LT export file in TSV format or excel file format?
All the barcode scanners I know of will just act like a keyboard and most can also be programmed to add a newline to the scanned item if they don't do it by default.

>1 sahat: What exactly are you trying to do here, run an inventory? If so, then unfortunately you can't scan-to-search your library within the LibraryThing App. If you have a barcode scanner, you can scan-to-search (and even take use of our "Take Inventory" feature: https://blog.librarything.com/main/2015/06/new-feature-take-inventory/) on the LibraryThing.com side. I hope this helps.

I requested this in the original iPhone app announcement thread and @conceptDawg said "I think that's coming. Eventually."

Thank you so much for your responses. I am trying to run an inventory of my books. Since I don’t have a barcode scanner, I’ll have to make do. I agree with r.orrison that it would be a great enhancement.
