September KITastrophe: Catch-Up Month
We decided that, instead of one challenge covering two months, we would use September as a catch up month, since many libraries have been closed due to COVID, which may have made it harder to get our hands on some of the books we wanted to read.
I’d like to suggest people post their reviews and to the wiki in the proper month that the book would belong in. I will provide links to each month’s thread, and to the wiki for that month.
However, do feel free to discuss what you’d like to read/catch up on in September for our KITastrophe challenge here in this thread.

I'm not sure yet what I'll read. I've managed to keep up, but would like to read another (though it may be my lowest priority for September).
My favourite themes are recent ones: Geologic Events, Man-Made, Weather Events, so likely whatever I choose will fit one of those.

I'm going to read The Last Voyage of Christopher Columbus by Martin Duggard.

I am thinking about reading The Yellow House for the weather category as I believe Hurricane Katrina plays a role in this memoir.

I completed The Last Voyage of Columbus: Being the Epic Tale of the Great Captain's Fourth Expedition, Including Accounts of Swordfight, Mutiny, Shipwreck, Gold, War, Hurricane, and Discovery by Martin Dugard. It was a great non-fiction read!

This is for July: Weather
I will also post in the original thread.
Zeitoun / Dave Eggers
4 stars
Zietoun (pronounced Zay-toon) and his wife Kathy lived in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. Zietoun ran a painting/consulting business. They had 4 kids at the time. Kathy evacuated with the kids and Zeitoun stayed behind to keep watch on his home, plus the rental properties that they owned. It wasn’t long before things got really bad for him, while Kathy couldn’t get ahold of him and had no idea what had happened...
This was really good. There were a few parts – mostly Zietoun’s background in Syria – that I kind of lost focus, but the rest of it was really good. I did see a sort-of “spoiler” when I was only part-way through that I wish I hadn’t seen, though it wasn’t specifically about the storyline.
