Hello, my name is Kama.
I have a problem - is the number of tags limited?
I entered the current number of my collection into this field. After 66 entries, subsequent books stopped appearing on the "your books" list. They are saved, I can search for them, but they are not listed
Best regards to all

Number of tags are not limited. Some users have over 10000 tags. I think I'm just under 700 myself.
Your books has an adjustable display size. Default is 50 books I think. It can get as high as 200 books per screen load. This is changed under the gear icon for settings.

The issue you're experiencing is unrelated to tags. I see only 66 books entered into your library. Can you give an example of a book you can search for and find in your library but which you don't see listed in your catalog?

Thank you. I added 3 more books. https://www.librarything.com/work/31833175/book/259677755 and the next two volumes. They are visible in Add Books/Recently added, but not in the list. However, I would like all books to appear on one list. I have about 2,000 of them at the moment I see that I should change the entries in the "tags" and "Review" fields.

>5 150410105: Make sure you are looking at all your collections. I can see all 3 volumes when I look at All Collections: https://www.librarything.com/catalog/150410105/allcollections in your library.

Ah, I see what happened here - look at the fields. Your tags went into the Review column and you have a number in the tags column. If you are importing, check how your import file looks like.

So your books were added but you put the data in the wrong columns - so your tags do not look the way you expect them to.

Thank you all for your help. Please tell me in which field I should enter publishing series so that I can search for them?

>7 150410105: Comments or private comments or the publication field (where the publisher goes) if you want them to be how you want them and to be visible in the catalog. Or you can add the pub series as a tag :)

I am interested in cataloging books I read RECENTLY, in the PAST, and those in 2025 adding to my 2025 list as I go along. Whether I own them or not isn't important to me. I am very new and when I started I just added books any old way. And being an old retired lady, not even close to all the books I have read. I wonder if I can organize them the way I just described. Would tags work? I thought tags were for others to find. Thanks to anyone who attempts to answer as I am not sure I am clear.

>10 stefepaul: You can use tags for whatever purposes you want to :) They are for you - they to bubble up into the work pages and become interesting pieces of data but they are YOUR tags. If you want to use a tag "1x34h", you can (whatever that may mean for you). If you want to use "read in XXXX" tags, you can (I do that). You have no responsibility to add tags so other readers can find something about the books (unless you want to of course).

But in order to add a tag, you need to add the book to your library first :)

>10 stefepaul: You can also customize your collections to reflect those categories. You do that on the Add Books page.

And there is absolutely no requirement that you must own a book to catalog it

Thanks! Going to delve into this tomorrow after I take my grandchild to school. Speaking of reading, she is 4 and reads everything!

You can also go to the "YOUR BOOKS" tab (located in the brown banner at the top of the page), and choose the "finished" heading. That will sort your entire collection (no matter when you entered it) by the date you finished reading it.

Of course you have to have a date in that field for each book. And for your older books (i.e. those you've read years ago) you may have to just create a date if you don't have it recorded somewhere. I've done that for some of the books I've added that I read when I was a child. (I'm in my 70s now.)

Note: If you only enter a partial date, the computer will assume you mean the remaining spots to be 01.

>15 BookConcierge: Thanks! I am getting the hang of this thanks to yours and others help. My long time ago books are many as I am not quite there but pushing 70

>14 stefepaul: Does your granddaughter have a book log?

Just as an aside. :) Like a photo album, it can be really fun to look back at what a child was reading as she grew, and it can be a handy way to keep a wishlist for other adults in the family. (that is, if the child is like some in *my* family who like to get books as gifts!)
