Welcome to the Colored CoverKIT planning thread.
This is a combination of two CATs from last year -the CoverCAT and the ColorCAT. The idea behind this kit is to select both a color and a cover item. Participants can choose to match either the cover object or the color each month, or both. I think it might be fun to try to match the color and the item (but each month is 100% up to the host)
January - lowelibrary - orange and/or something found in the garden
February - JayneCM - blue and/or an item of clothing
March - beebeereads - green and/or greenery
April - Tess_W - yellow and/or celestial object such as sun, moon, or stars
May - Robertgreaves - turquoise and/or a piece of jewelry
June - christina_reads - purple and/or food or drink
July - DeltaQueen50 - pink and/or an umbrella
August - clue - brown and/or window or door
September - NinieB - brass and/or a musical instrument
October - susanna.fraser - black and/or something that would make a good Halloween costume
November - bookworm3091 - silver and/or a fantastical creature on the cover (fairy/dragon/centaur, etc)
December - LadyoftheLodge - red and/or something related to the winter season (either hemisphere)
Hosts should post their thread by the 15th of the previous month, so that participants can plan their reads.
I will post the wiki here once all months are selected.
And the WIKI is finally here : https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Colored_CoverKIt#2026_Colored_CoverKIT

For those not wanting to match last year cover objects - these were last year's topics
something involved in a tea party, a tree, farm animals, a road, more than two elements/objects, something with wheels, a fruit, includes a photograph, dogs and/or cats, something that will fit in your pocket, celestial objects, and something you would like for a Christmas (or equivalent gift-giving occasion in your tradition)
Last year's colors were: Green, Gold, Pink, Brown, Red, Yellow, White, Grey, Silver, Black, Blue, and Purple

I will start by taking January with the theme of something found in a garden and the color orange.
To give an idea, you could read a book with an orange cover, or any item found in a garden, or an orange item found in the garden on the cover.

This sounds like fun. Can I please have the month of July with the color pink and the item an umbrella.
6Robertgreaves
Could I have May, please, with turquoise as the colour and/or a piece of jewellery as the cover item.
7LadyoftheLodge
I would like December, color red, cover is related to the winter season (either hemisphere).

Thank you, everyone. These have all been added to >1 lowelibrary:.
>4 JayneCM: love the ease of this one for the shortest month
>5 DeltaQueen50: I have already read the perfect book for this one. The Story of Walt Disney's Motion Picture Mary Poppins is pink with an umbrella.
>6 Robertgreaves: I love the idea of turquoise with jewelry.
>7 LadyoftheLodge: A perfect color and theme for that month.

I have a pink umbrella one on my TBR too! Finding Gene Kelly - it is on my TBR as the main character has endometriosis, as does my daughter. I want to read it to see if it would be something she would like.
10LadyoftheLodge
>8 lowelibrary: Oh yeah! I have that Mary Poppins book too!
11beebeereads
I'll be happy to do March.
Green or Greenery
Is that too easy? I can narrow it more if the group thinks so.

I will take October with black and something on the cover that would make a good Halloween costume.
