How to get rid of custom Collections tags?

How can I delete my non-standard Collections? I can't seem to find where to do that.

I am trying to import to LibraryThing as if I was a brand new user, and import my books (from GR). So I've deleted all my LT books in preparation for a fresh import. Now I want to get rid of the unique Collections I had set up so I am most like a new user and will have an import experience just as they would. I want only the standard Collections, I believe those are:
Your library (0)
Wishlist (0)
Currently reading (0)
To read (0)
Read but unowned (0)
Favorites (0)
All collections (0)

Is that list correct?

>1 DebiCates: Someone will be along to explain this better than I. you cannot delete them but you can hide them - it is probably an easy find if you look. I know I found it once way back

you cannot delete them

Yes, you can.

When you click on "Edit Collections", find the collection you want to delete in the list. Click the triangle on the left to open options, and you should see one to "delete collection". This works only with custom collections; you can't delete standard collections.

Your list of standard collections is correct.

>4 lilithcat: Whew, I'm glad I can delete them. I probably have before, even. But at the moment for the life of me I can't figure out where to go to "Edit Collections"

I can't figure out where to go to "Edit Collections"

Go to your catalog. In the upper left, you should see a field that shows the collection or collections you are in. Click on the triangle on the right and it will bring up the list of collections. At the bottom of that list, there's an option to "Edit Collections".

>5 DebiCates: In addition to what >6 lilithcat: said, you can edit collections on the work page of books you own: click the edit collections icon and select collections manager.

>8 amanda4242: Cool. There seems to always be more than one way to skin a cat (sorry @lilithcat for that terrible expression) on LT.

If you want a easier place to edit collections, arrange them, etc., you can also go into your settings, and find a spot for collections:
https://www.librarything.com/settings/collections

>10 gilroy: That will come in handy when the new import is complete. Ha, AND it's yet another place I could have deleted a collection.

One of the things I like about LT is that there are multiple ways to do things, and after {mumblety-mumble} years here, I'm still finding things out!

For now, you should stick to the link/URL in >10 gilroy: -- there's a bug that hasn't been fixed with editing collections: https://www.librarything.com/topic/368601
You will see there have been repeated reports of the collections bug: https://www.librarything.com/search.php?search=368601&searchtype=talk&so...

>13 lesmel: The deleting I did seemed to work before I saw that message posted. But should I need to do more work on Collections tags I'll go the gilroy way to avoid bugs. Much appreciated for the headsup!
