LOL, not me!
I mean the number of posts on The Poetry Collective's pinned and main topic "The current roster of members to post poems." I think I'll start getting an option to start a part 2 at message 150, right?
I'm already sweating it. I'm not sure how to best handle it. I'd like to successfully roll over to part 2 but want the roster to still be the #1 top message (will cut and paste the same info).
Also, will any existing links to the original topic go to the part 2 automatically?

If you continue the thread to part two it will link to the first one automatically.

No. All links you have made to the first topic will still go to the first topic.
Don't forget that 150 messages is the minimum you need to have to continue in a new topic, but you don't have to. If there aren't a lot of images or long messages in the topic then it shouldn't become unwieldy until it's several hundred messages long

Got it! Thank you. I'll have a little house cleaning to do then. Like maybe link page 2 in page 1 at the top of the first message.
I may let it ride beyond 150 as per your suggestion. Messages there have been short (and not part of any ongoing or relevant discussion, just one offs, handled.)

>4 DebiCates: Anyone can continue any topic, no matter what. Doesn't matter if they are group admins or if they have never even posted on the topic. Politeness dictates that whoever started the first topic continues it into another, but there's no actual restrictions.
Continuing a topic only does the following things:
1) takes you to the new topic form to start a new topic in the same group and with the same title. You edit the title and add the message text just the same as if you were starting any new topic.
2) There is now a link at the top and bottom of the first topic that goes to the second.
3) Anyone who has starred the first topic will automatically have the second topic starred, and same for if the topic was ignored.

Here's an example of a topic that is both a continuation of a previous topic and has been continued itself: https://www.librarything.com/topic/369032
You can see the links at the top to the previous and the next topics. Other than that it's just a normal topic.

@norabelle414 VERY helpful. I feel less stressed.
When it reaches 150, will everyone see the message to continue the topic? I'm assuming so since you say it is only out of politeness they typically don't. Is it on every 150+ message?
Once the continuation is created, will it also be pinned as was the first one or does that need to be done by admins?
I may go ahead at 150...to nab that top message before someone intentionally or likely unintentionally does it not being sure what it means. What do you think?

You, and everyone else, can see the link all the way at the bottom. It's always at the bottom no matter how long the topic is.
I'm not sure about pins. I think you'll probably need to pin the new one and un-pin the old one.
People accidentally continuing a topic that they shouldn't have is extremely rare, I've only ever seen it happen once or twice in over a decade. I wouldn't worry about it.

>9 norabelle414: Oh man, that is not what I expected! ha. It's hardly noticeable. That's great.
Thank you for the help and the links. I'm feeling good. All will be well.
