I really enjoyed the January thread, so here is one for February! What were your best reads this month?
For me, February was more about comfort reads than great books, and I had a few rereads. That said, the one new book that makes my list is:
Alias Grace - Margaret Atwood

The Book Thief. One of the best narrative voices I've read in a long time.

With no hesitation at all, I say Hummingbird's Daughter.
It is a keeper, a reread, and will go on my gift book list. I loved it.

I was able to obtain a copy of The View from Saturday from my local library and hope to read it this week. Your recommendations are usually spot on for me!

The best book I have read in February I haven't finished! But I will argue that of the 700 pages I have completed 600 so far and that February is a short month. If I had an extra day or two I would have completed it on time.
The book is The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. My only criticism is that nothing good ever happens to the narrator, in fact quite a lot of bad things happen. But the book has held my attention, it has been really interesting to read, and in spite of the bad things hasn't been depressing to read either.

My reads in February were pretty eclectic. In no particular order, the top three were:
Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier
Le Petit Prince by Antoine De Saint-Expury
and Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voigt
I didn't manage to finish The Eyre Affair in February, but I'm expecting it will make the list in March.

From my meager list of February reads I'd place The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman top of the list. A very well written short story.

Great books in Feb:
Proust and the Squid - Maryanne Wolf: the science and history of reading, just brilliant
My Antonia - Willa Cather: totally different pace from my usual sort of thing, beautiful, calm, reflective stuff.
Cassandra at the Wedding - Dorothy Baker: wrenching portrait of the sibling relationship
Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson and Oliver Relin: didn't like the style but what an incredible story
The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman: didn't want this to end
Ooh. That was quite a good month, wasn't it?
