I know there have always been problems with touchstones not loading, but lately even touchstones that do load don't necessarily appear in a post.
I had this problem most recently when I added Dangerous Knowledge: Orientalism and its Discontents to the first message in this thread. The touchstone loads properly when I'm typing, but doesn't actually appear when I click submit.
ETA: since the touchstone doesn't work in this thread either, I guess it's not related to the fact that the message I was trying to add it to has been edited frequently.

Yes, same here.

I should add that the book was also published under a different name, For Lust of Knowing, and that touchstone seems to work fine. Maybe the multiple titles are related to the problem.

And for me, the touchstone that does appear for that work in this thread isn't active. I click on it, and I get an extra blank line below it, and that's all.

Hi Noisy,
I have seen that for months now. I am using Safari, Mac OS10.4.something, so it is probably a general LibraryThing problem.

6> What works, MerryMary? The touchstone or the link in the touchstone column on the right? I've got the same setup you do - XP, FF3.5.2. Dangerous Knowledge appears to link - let's see if it will when I submit the post. The link in the Touchstone Works column doesn't do anything for me - I get the same as Noisy, when I hover it looks like a link but clicking it just creates a blank line under the title (and clicking again makes it go away). The author doesn't even do that (though it wasn't explicitly touchstoned).
The problem is that I can't remember what it's supposed to do. It did something for a while, but I don't remember what - take you to the book? Highlight the touchstone so you can find it in the thread? Give some information in that now-blank line? Anyone remember?
ETA - nope, no link when I submit. Looks perfect - blue link in the touchstone column, that actually takes me to the book when I click it - but when I submit, nada. That's weird.

I beg your pardon. I misunderstood the problem. I clicked on the touchstone in message 3 and it went to the book like it was supposed to. I didn't click the Touchstone Works column at the time. I just tried it, and I find the same problem you do - doesn't do anything except add a blank line.

It used to give a choice of highlighting the work in the thread or going to the work page. ... I think ...

Yes, hailelib. It used to do that, but it has been several months....

I recently had this problem with The Adoration of Jenna Fox as well, though it's not consistent--sometimes the touchstone shown on the right actually does appear in the message.
12Nicole_VanK
True, but that the touchstones in that right hand column don't work does seem to be consistent.
14Nicole_VanK
Not a clue.

I'm seeing an issue with a single touchstone -- for Wolf Hall, which shows in the right hand column, and links to the book, but doesn't register in the post itself.
