Hi all, this is a rather random request, but do any of you know of a novel that has a major character whose name begins with 'X'?
I'm doing a reading challenge on another site, and I'm nearly done, I'm just stuck at X.
Lover Awakened by JR Ward has already been suggested, but I read the first few chapters and thought it was dreadful, so there's no way I'm putting myself through the rest of it.
Also, the X-men series is out - I've got nothing against comics/graphic novels, but I don't think I'll be able to get hold of any of those. And I've read Frank Miller's 300 already.
Thanks!

I haven't read it, but I know The Other Ones has a character named Xiii, and all I know other than that is it's YA and about a witch.
Otherwise, I would suggest looking into some books with Chinese origins. They have X names like Xia, Xue, Xiu, Xiaoli, Xiaowen, etc

How "major" a character does this have to be? Xenophilius Lovegood finally made his appearance in Deathly Hollows but of course it's just a supporting role.

Hasn't anyone written a novel about Xerxes or Xenophon? I know Xenophon appears in Mary Renault's The Last of the Wine, but only peripherally.

@8>> That was my thought, but I did a tag search here on LT for Xavier and also did a "characters" search on IMDb (figuring maybe I'd find a book-to-film) and didn't come up with anything very useful. Oh, there were a few hits, yeah, but nothing I thought the OP would be interested in for a reading challenge.
@7>> . . . but doing an LT- tag search on Xerxes does produce some possibly useful results. Xenophon turns up a little bit too. I don't know any of the books turned up, though, so I don't know how central either of them are, maybe not much more so than Xenophilius Lovegood in Deathly Hallows, which I've already suggested @6.
EDIT: Ooooh, wait a minute. How about The Autobiography of Malcolm X?

Oooh, CurrerBell - Malcolm X must be the definitive one!
I have a few here after a quick look at my 'common knowledge' but, as far as I can remember, they are all fairly minor characters - there's X-Ray in Holes, Xabier Ansotegui in Guernica (which I haven't actually read yet so may or may not be a major character), Xaphania in The Amber Spyglass and Xayide in The Never Ending Story. But there's no doubt CurrerBell's suggestion was way better than any of these.

Xenon, it was a manga series but so far I've only ever seen comics of it and not full graphic novels.
It is about a teenage boy that gets experimented on and turned into a cyborg. But he escapes and when he realises what has happened to him he goes a little insane which is bad since he just got turned super powerful.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
9, 10: Malcolm X is pretty good, but the winner is going to be The Amber Spyglass for Xaphinia - I've read the first two books in the series, but not the last. I got it several months after finishing the second book and even though I really enjoyed the series I lost steam. This is the perfect opportunity to finish though :)
6: The character can have a supporting role - the challenge simply specified that the person has to play a sufficiently large role in the book and couldn't just be mentioned in passing. That's a bit vague and allows for a lot of characters to be included, but I tried to go for those with the biggest roles, wherever possible.
All the suggestions will come in handy though, in case anyone else doing the challenge wants a hand, and if I do it again next year.
Thanks again!

Bit late now, but there's a Xavier Quinn in Lee Child's Persuader he's the villan so definetly a major character.

And there's X Trapnel in Anthony Powell's Dance to the Music of Time series. He's in one of the later novels (I could find out which one if you'd like me to).

Well good luck on The Amber Spyglass. It happens to contain my favorite scene in all of fantasy literature, Lyra and Pan on the dock. (I can't say more to avoid SPOILER but anyone who's read it will know exactly what I'm referring to.)

Late as well, but Xris Cyborg is the main character in Weis and Hickman's Mag Force 7 series that starts with The Knights of the Black Earth and also features as a minor player in their Star of the Guardians series that starts with The Lost King (though I'm not sure where he makes his first appearance in that series).

Ten Thousand Heroes by James Barbary features Xenophon in a central role.
