There are some books that I would like to recommend and I don't know how or where to post the recommendations.

I show that I have made two rec's on my profile page, however, I know that I have recommended far more than two books to other members.

Help is always appreciated.

Member recommendations are made on work pages. There is a division that reads "member recommendations" and below it is a link to "add your own recommendation", which brings up a lightbox and a form to fill in for your recommendation.

I still don't understand how to add/make a member recommendation on a selected book from my library. I click the book to open the book info page, and then I click "Add your own recommendation" which opens a dropbox "Recommend a book" which has a search box which says "Find a book"! Under it, it says "Select a book" and "no books found"grayed out.

Which means you can't simply flag a book as a recommendation based on tags ?

And then what ? What am I supposed to do at this point to recommend a book ? This is getting seriously confusing and nowhere on the FAQ's did I find any explanation as to how to recommend a book. I know that this site automates recommendations by others but nowhere does it say how a member can make one ?

Somebody needs to explain this to me...please. (driving me nuts)

Try actual book titles and author names. I fail to see how tags come into this.

What I am asking is how this box actually works, because I am a newbie and this seems to be more complicated than necessary. Am I just copying and pasting the book title of the book info page into this box ? Is that what you're saying ?

In the search box, enter the name of the book which you would like to recommend, hit "search", and choose the correct title from the list that comes up. You'll then get another box in which you can enter your reasons for giving the recommendation.

>5 Luchtpint: The way that recommendations work is "If you like Book A, you'll like Book B!". Thus, you go to Book A's book page, click "add your own recommendation", and then enter the information for Book B.

OK. I think I am getting the hang of it. I've tested this by opening one book info page (A) and copy-pasting the title of another book in my library on the same subject (B) in it.

Many thanks for the info lilithcat and norabelle414

You've done it correctly. (Not having read either book I can't vouch for the quality of the recommendation, but you've got the technical end of things down!)
