Bug Collectors photo?

I have taken over the Bug Collectors group, started in 2006 by "CupCakeMonster." The user in question didn't stick around, the group is now official, I needed to add new links and so forth.

Don't think that one is copyright free though.

Book covers are fair use, aren't they... Doktor Bey's bedside bug book may suit the bill.

Sadly, none of the Starship Troopers books have any good bug-hunter scenes on the covers.

The tag bugs might provide a rich vein. I like I Love Bugs!

How about a book stack photo contest?

Why not just a picture of Tim or another staff member pulling out his or her hair and screaming for the camera?

Here you go - as far as I can see, using the online image is fine (they talk about getting a higher-resolution one here but no mention of controls on using the online one).

How about one of the covers for The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka?

As much as I understand the whole "Bug Collectors equal real bugs" thing, I have to ask that, for the sake of those of us with severe bug phobias, PLEASE don't use a creepy-crawly as the group image. I'd honestly have no other choice then to avoid the group, in that case.

Still, if you go via Talk rather than Groups, you never need to see the group page.

I don't remember the Bugs group having a photo earlier... But then again, my memory sucks.

I was misremembering; it's another group that uses that picture. (Heather19, don't look, though you've already seen it in this thread.)

I'd be willing to pay royalties to Liam. Maybe his art will go viral and we could brag about knowing him before he went pro at age 8.

When I went to the Bug Collecors group page today, I thought: "Oh no, the site is down again!"

Then I realized that it's only the new group photo.

The strong emotional reaction tells me that I'm quite addicted to the site :-)

What's really funny is that I was scrolling as I hit the page (I always do - get down to the bottom of the new posts and read up) so I only got a flicker of the photo - but had the same reaction as hnau! That photo has some serious emotional reactions tied to it...

It is, however, perfect for the BC group (IMHO).
