Description
Must think happy thoughts. Julie Andrews dancing. Cadbury's chocolate Easter eggs. But no amount of positive thinking changes the fact that Jeremy-the man of my dreams, the man I would marry, the man who should spend his whole life worshipping me and lavishing me with kisses-went to Thailand to find himself. Obviously I'm not as cute and witty as I thought I was, since while I've been sitting around every weekend, he's been sleeping with half of Thailand. And then he found Someone Else. show more That someone not being me. I have been pathetic. But now I will date. I will become the queen of dating. I will forget all about him. Single in Boston, that's me. But not for long...!. show lessTags

When Jackie’s boyfriend leaves for Thailand (after she has packed up in order to follow him to Boston!) to “find himself”, then she hears from him that he’s found a new girlfriend, Jackie is devastated and doesn’t quite know what to do. With one of the very few girlfriends she has (she only has two, and one is in New York), she decides to get all dolled up and go out and find someone new.
This was fun! I wasn’t crazy about Jackie, herself, but parts of the story were quite amusing and I laughed out loud! Her job was entertaining (she’s a copy editor for a romance publisher). I don’t read a lot of chick lit, but I quite enjoy it when I do. This was a quick read and I do like this author. I really liked the ending.

Sarah Mlynowski is a wonderful writer. I found this book to be very well-written and very easy to understand. However, the main character drove me crazy and is the reason for my 3 star rating. The entire time I was reading the book, I wanted to yell at the main character to grow up and stop revolving her life around men and instead to make herself happy rather than trying to find happiness in others.
Boston transplant Jackie spends her days editing steamy love scenes for romance publisher Cupid -- but can't quite hit a romantic stride in her own life. After her college sweetheart Jeremy unexpectedly leaves for Thailand in order to "find himself" and tells her that she should probably see other people, Jackie picks herself up, spends far too much time at local bars with pseudo-friend Natalie and goes on a little journey for self-discovery of her own.
I started out really liking this book, then started getting a bit annoyed by it in the middle, but ultimately really, really liked Jackie's character! I thought the dialogue was believable, enjoyed Jackie's obsessing and constant questioning of whether or not every man who crosses into show more her path is "the one." Yes, we've seen most of this plotline before, but I still enjoyed it for what it was -- a frothy look at a twenty-something trying to make her way in the world. Read it quickly! Readers who like chick lit and "adventures in dating" stories will probably enjoy Mlynowski's fun novel. show less

what can I say? I love her writing. Milkrun is probably much more traditional (if there is such a thing in chick lit) than her later books, but it's still a very good book. I read it in one sitting.
I really liked this book - it was funny without being totally over-the-top, and the main character was so cute and quirky. It's not a lifestyle I've ever led, having married young, but Mlynowski made me feel a familiar with it anyway.

This a story about a 24 year old woman living and working in Boston, and the trials and tribulations she goes through in her lovelife, career, friendships and with her family. The main character is likable and I think alot of women can relate to her. I liked it, some parts were a little predictable but all in all a good read.
