From the pricey ransom note, Sierra figures show more there's much more to this case than meets the eye. And her hunch proves correct when a quick trip to Denise's apartment reveals a fresh corpse. First in the Sierra Lavotini series, in which Sierra, an exotic dancer in a Florida club, seeks to help her friend Denise, a bartender at the same club. First Denise’s dog is kidnapped, then they find a dead body in Denise’s apartment and someone’s shooting at Sierra and Denise as well. When Denise vanishes, the cops think she’s taken off, but Sierra is worried that Denise’s drug-lord ex husband has done away with her and sets out to find her on her own. An okay book, nothing special, and while it was interesting and with a few likable characters, it’s not a series I’ll rush to read more of.
This was a pretty good first novel. Sierra is very likable. I would have liked more description of her character because I could never visualize more than blonde and large breasts but I've heard the series keeps getting better.

If you are comparing the book to the Stephanie Plum series there is a Rex who is a Chihuahua named Fluffy. There is a Morelli who is a detective, although he is nowhere as hot as Morelli...yet. There is a Grandma Mazer who is a crazy neighbor named Naydean who is possibly a paranoid schizophrenic.

All in all a decent first novel and I'm definatly willing to consider the next in the series.

This was a fun fast mystery. I am hoping this is not the last I will see of Sierra Lavotini.
