Lovely recollection of life on Corfu before WW II and a posting in Rhodes immediately after WW II. Landscape, people, festivals described in loving detail with some notes on history. Durrell is also a novelist, best known for the Alexandria Quartet, four novels set in Egypt. His brother Gerald Durrell was a naturalist who wrote memoirs of his family recently made into a PBS program.
