Madonna takes on the alter ego of Dita, involved in a lovers' quadrangle with a man named Johnny and their female partner Ingrid and Ben. I don't read French, so I couldn't follow those pages, but the epistolary telling loosely aligned with the imagery is in English. While this gives a literary theme, this is mostly an oversized book of mostly B&W nudes, S&M documentary, candid shots some aligning with or perhaps posed for the letters arc. Over 136 pages even the flesh becomes redundant and the spiral binding and aluminum covers make perusal inconvenient as is the embedded comic.
The queen of reinvention once again takes us along into her new world of sex. Papa may preach, yet Madonna has led us to a place overt of amazing erotic, sensual, overtly sexual, passionate, painful, dirty, taboo, sinful, and funny. Yet, on its own, it is highly artistic in her mind. This cultural work defines late 20th-century social mores and how they played out in the publishing and entertainment industries.
We examined exerpts of this book in a class I took about media and gender. I thought that seeing the book in its entirety would help me understand it and all the fuss the book got back in the 90s. I’m not sure it did.
For a book about sex, titled Sex, it’s not an erotic piece. The photos are all obviously staged.
I think the question Madonna was asking here was “why does a naked woman equate degredation?” She seems to be pointing out how our conception of women-as-dominated in contemporary pornography is a constructed reality saying more about our society than about sex.
ok i have mixed feelings about this. I was wondering what's the hype about this book, and now I've read it, I still don't quite understand why people are giving too much hype over a bindful of Madonna in erotica poses? It's not even porn. I guess Madonna's point when she thought about this book flew over most of people's head. From what I see, she's telling how women are mostly associated with sex. how they are subjected. There's a topic somewhere and I doubt she was piling this just for people to yell banned for.

Oh, I applaude Madonna for having the guts this book together cause I am sure she expected what came after, the mostly bad response of the public. I guess the title really covers what's the whole book is about. I must say it's show more a good art form.

Overall, if you're pretty much close-minded and not quite into graphical erotica, I say you should stay away from this book.

As fotos são tão sensacionais, mas o conjunto peca pela vacuidade.
This book is a good piece of books where you just need to turn the page to understand. High amounts of imagery, less textual stories.

I just felt bored while listening a football match minute by minute report and an ebook of this came.

God bless madonna to cure bored football games status.
I randomly came by this one. Not too bad, yet not inspirational.
