This book started off Strong but fizzled fast. It's your Teacher/Student taboo relationship however there wasn't much of a fight to stay apart. Sophia falls in love way to quickly & the sex scenes were over before I even knew they were happening. This is suppose to be a relationship that is under wraps but Sophia keeps telling everyone about it. I find it endearing that Marc would give up his teaching after their first kiss to be with her. I find a lack of connect with the characters. It was a struggle to get thru the book but I'm not a quitter so I did finish it.
Quotes:
"Because I can't have you. And wanting something you can't have can be a very difficult thing to handle. Especially if you're used to getting whatever you want and show more whoever you want."
" 'I Love you', says Marc simply, staring at the ocean. 'But this isn't a movie. I don't know how this will end.'"

Ok, I admit that I really like the Crossfire/50 shades genre. And so, I was looking forward to this one. And it started out very well, but god, by 47% I was thinking "I don't know if I can take much more of this." And at 49% I decided I couldn't! By this point I'd lost all interest in everybody. I had absolutely no respect for a single soul in the book, nor for the writing itself.
I started out really liking the book, but by the time she moves on campus the book takes a total nose dive, jumps the shark, and becomes utter crap. Just seemed utterly ridiculous to me from that moment on.
Everything is just too much, too fast, too ridiculous.
This is a totally cookie cutter novel, but one that's nowhere near as well written as ANY of the show more others I've read. I did, however, like the plot, this could have been a really good book. There was a lot going on, some depth to it as well, and there were some good scenes and dialog. but everything happened on such a ridiculous timeline that nothing was believable, and the way the characters dealt with one another didn't seem realistic either. ....Spoiler.... after just a couple of days at the school the main character gets rat poisoning by a fellow student, the teacher/owner of the school puts her in a private hospital, that night tells her to spread her legs, proceeds to take naked photos and a video of her masturbating... she just got rat poisoned! They don't even know eachother yet! WTF??.. then it's discovered that the guy who poisoned her is in love with her? Um, it's been 1 week? how the fuck is he in love with her when he's not even had two fucking sentences with her?!?! And how is it even remotely ok to spike a drink with drugs to make a person 'lighten up'?... and after another day, the leading man, who's had not a single personal conversation with the leading lady, says he's let her in more than anyone else. Oh come ON!!! HE HASN'T SAID SHIT! They haven't even spent the night together!......End Spoiler... at this point I was so fed up with the ludicrous timeline that I gave up. I couldn't suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy the actual plot.
I couldn't stand a single character in the book. The lead woman was, as another reviewer stated (Georgia ♥ Team Dex ♥), "a spineless wimp with the self awareness of a snail." And she is. So fucking clueless and useless (reminded me of the cowardly lion in Wizard of Oz "oooh shocks"). And the guy "Mr. Control", oh my god, he couldn't keep his hand out of a bowl of stale popcorn after a 5 course meal! Control. Sheesh!! I think they mean an utter LACK of control!
Then there was the writing itself... riddled with typos, I mean liberally riddled with them. from he instead of the, to swapped word placing!
I was just so disgusted by everything from the writing, to the plot, to the characters. It all was done so badly!! I gave up, I will NOT be reading more of this book or the rest! NO NO NO!!! Deleting from my kindle right now!!! show less
