This book explores the concept of contemporary and past human cultures being muddled into a complete mess by a rather confused alien culture attempting to reconstruct "authentic" human cultures in a future after most humans left Earth. That aspect is rather interesting, though it doesn't get much depth beyond plenty of examples encountered by the "resurrected" protagonist.
This book tries rather hard to be in the same league as the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. That's a rather tall order. In the end, I had to make an effort to finish reading, as the book seems to get more and more chaotic as it progresses. The last couple of chapters do provide closure to the many threads, which is good.
