As a native speaker of English who has lived in Germany at various times and enjoys learning the ins and outs of the German language, the book is both a valuable resource and a little shot of Schadenfreude when I see that even native speakers of German struggle with some of the same things I do. The most disturbing recurring theme that appears in many of the specific language confusions discussed is the growing influence of English vocabulary, usage and orthography on German, by way of ads, pop culture and even the news media. nervt manchmal mit speziellem Humor; für korrektes Schriftdeutsch brauchbar, bei Umgangssprache und lokalem Sprachgebrauch (rheinische Verlaufsform) zu Übereifer neigend

Die oder das Nutella - diese Frage hat schon viele Gemüter am Frühstückstisch bewegt. Der, die, das - wieso, weshalb, warum? Eine Antwort hätten wir schon gern. Wir? Ja, wir hilflos Verlorenen im Labyrinth der deutschen Sprache. Wir, die wir unsere liebe Not mit der deutschen Sprache haben. Und leichter ist es nach der Rechtschreibreform ja auch nicht geworden ... In seinen hinreißend komischen und immer klugen Kolumnen bringt Bastian Sick Licht ins Dunkel der deutschen Sprachregelungen und sortiert den Sprachmüll. Einfach jedem zu empfehlen!

Je n'aurais pas du lire les critiques de librarything avant de lire ce livre. Mes attentes étaient du coup, grandes. Des articles décortiquant la pratique actuelle de la langue allemande, certains sont réellement de l'ergotage (pour peu que ce mot existe). Mais surtout ma déception fait suite aux mots d'introduction de l'auteur. En effet celui-ci déclare qu'il veut réaliser un livre drôle et cynique, qui ne tombe pas dans la critique néfaste genre vieux grammaticien conservateur. Et j'ai l'impression que bien souvent, il est tombé dans ce piège. Dommage.
