Voyagers in Time

Originally published in 1967 and issued in this edition in 1989, this is a collection of 12 time travel short stories assembled by Robert Silverberg, himself a major author in the science fiction field. These stories were originally published between 1937 and 1965, plus an extract from H. G. Wells’ ‘Time Machine’ from much earlier.

All these stories are about time travel and mostly focus on the anomalies and unintended consequences that could arise from such activity. As such, they tend towards the humorous side and rarely raise any ominous feelings of dread or menace.

Even the most recent of these stories is more than 50 years old and, as with much science fiction, appear rather dated to us in terms of technology and civilisation show more all progress. Having said that, it is the writing that is the thing to focus on. The authors here are among the greats in the science fiction world and although these might not be their best work, these stories are all entertaining and wel constructed. show less
