Description

As Bob Skinner takes an evening stroll with a gorgeous filmstar on his arm, surely the worst of his worries is that back at Headquarters, an ambitious new colleague is scheming to enlarge his territory at Skinner's expense. But when a frightening shot-gun attack sends Skinner and his old flame Louise Banks diving for cover, it seems danger has zeroed in on him once again...

Good plotting with an unusual twist. As in the previous Skinner book I read (which should really be read after this one in sequence), there are though quite a lot of characters and it isn't always easy to remember who they are or where they fit into the plot. The plot actually concerns the apparent attempts on the life of a Scottish film star in Edinburgh to film her latest epic, who coincidentally is an old flame of Bob Skinner, as well as a sub-plot of a series of well-executed thefts on Scottish fish farms. A good travel read, but don't expect anything very deep.

Skinner series #11. Skinner's old flame Louise Bankier is now a film star, and needs protection. Meanwhile a murder case and a series of thefts keep the police busy. This is a good series - lots of suspense, though sometimes too much romantic drama, good action, interesting Edinburgh and East Lothian location, good escape reading.

A Skinner Novel. The first I've read, but apparently based on the inside of the book there are quite and amount of books on this guy. Skinner is a detective Chief Comissioner. Skinner has a friend who happens to be a movie star. He's out with her when there's an attempt on her life, meanwhile there's a murder for whom the main suspect is one of Skinner's staff, and some trout are going missing.. life is just one complication after another.
