Description
All the best lines from the Saloon at the far-out edge of space-time!Off the Wall at Callahan's is a collection of epigrams, maxims, proverbs, observations, eye-watering puns, and original song lyrics distilled from the first five volumes of the Callahan's Place series (from Callahan's Crosstime Saloon to Lady Slings the Booze). After the original Callahan's Place was destroyed, all of these gems were painstakingly deciphered from blown-up old photos of the wall behind the bar, where Callahan show more let his customers scrawl graffiti in place of the usual mirror. So technically, every word is "off the wall."Further ennobled by numerous interior B&W illustrations by Phil Foglio, there are even capsule bios at the end for every person (real or imaginary) quoted in the graffiti section. Welcome to Callahan's Crosstime Saloon . . .There's no place like it in this, or any other, universe. show lessTags

It's fun. I've been reading it, and it brings back a lot of memories. I think you need to be a fan, already, and I don't think this book is for everyone. If you love the Callahan books, you should have this one too.
"A person should live forever, or die trying." Mike Callahan.
(On the other hand, it did remind me that I liked his earlier works much better than the later ones.)

The Callahan's family stories have been enormous fun... so much so they've attained FANdom (though hotel management has been unamused with events (possibly) related to Callahan's fans attendance at events like DragonCon).
That said, I have to regretfully recommend a pass on this book... it's a recap collection of the most memorable moments from the series? Well that's an oxymoron rather than a pun, which is likely how it slipped past ol Spidey.
Definitely read the other books though!

I always enjoy Spider Robinson's books and this was no exception. If you haven't read any of his Callahan's Bar series this is a good one to start with because he refers to lots of past events. The puns, though, could be dangerous to your mental health.
This is a short collection of puns, epigrams, and other sentiments "written on the wall at Callahan's Crosstime Saloon". It was a quick read, but it was great to visit the folks at Callahan's again. I always enjoyed the stories by Robinson of the bar in NY where all sorts of folk - alien, time travelers, and 'regular' people - gather to pass the time.
Compilation of some of the fun tales and quotes published in the Callahan's series. For fans only.
I love lines, quotations, outtakes. This is a wonderful capper to the series.
