Description
Kelly's spring project: rehabbing an alpaca ranch. But someone has different ideas for keeping her busy, including slashing tires and cracking windshields. Then the House of Lambspun knitting shop is trashed, and a woman is found drowned in a tub of dye. Although it seems like a burglary gone wrong, Kelly suspects there's more to it. And as disturbing incidents pile up, she must pick up the stitches of these crimes before the killer strikes again.Tags

Another installment in the knitting mysteries surrounding the Lambspun fiber family. Our dear Kelly has been a part of Fort Connor, Colorado, for nearly a year and continues to work on her projects and solve mysteries.
In this case, a young woman who worked in Jennifer's real estate office is a college student studying chemistry. Of course motherly Maggie invites her to come to the class on dyeing of yarn! She would learn so much.
And then, the worst happens. It is a murder mystery, after all, and this one has a bit of a twist that has something to do with the murder but not as much as you might think. You see, Kelly wants to buy the nearly-abandoned ranch house, with alpacas, that has had buyers since Geri Norbert was arrested for a show more couple of murders. But for some strange reason, each of the buyers pulls out and it goes back on the market.
Kelly loves this place and is debating whether to give up her cozy cottage near Lambspun or try to be one of the buyers. And she finally makes an offer, has another young college student, Bob, stay on-site to take care of the alpacas, and finds more and more incidents of vandalism that she has to deal with. Including one that might have cost her her own life if she weren't paying attention.
The ending was almost predictable, though I did like how the vandalism around Kelly and her home were more the central focus. And it Sefton is able to add in the life of a knit shop, with all of its many layers, in a quite believable way to the story. show less

I keep figuring out whodunnit LONG before the end of the book, but the hows and whys are always surprising.
Dyer Consequences is the fifth book in the Knitting Series by Sefton. It's one of those cozy mystery series that centers around a hobby (gardening, scrapbooking, knitting, etc.) or a job (bookstore owner, florist, librarian, etc.). None of these series are considered high brow literature; however, some of them are well-written and entertaining, which is the case with Maggie Sefton's series. I've read the previous four books in the series and have enjoyed all of them. This latest installment was the perfect thing to read after my two previous books -- Lolita and Water for Elephants, which both deal with more serious subjects.
This one is purely for fun. Kelly Flynn is the protagonist, who has moved back to the Colorado mountains and taken show more up residence beside the Lambspun Knitting Shop. As is the case with these types of series, she ends up finding herself in the middle of a mystery. Someone is trying to scare her away from buying a ranch up in the canyon. The threats begin with vandalism to her property and soon escalate to more serious crimes. In addition, there's been some vandalism at the knitting shop next door. Soon a body turns up and Kelly sets out to find out if the these are random acts of violence or if they're related and really do have something to do with her.
I enjoy the characters in this series, as well as the descriptions of the beautiful Colorado landscape. But as much as anything else, I enjoy reading about the knitting -- the yarns, the patterns, the projects, etc. The book includes a pattern at the back, as well as a recipe. This is another things that is pretty typical with this type of cozy mystery. This latest mystery was pretty easy to solve, but it was still enjoyable. If you like this type of book and possibly need a change of pace after some heavier reading, this just may be something you'd like. show less

Maggie Sefton did it again in book 5 of her knitting mysteries series. After reading a deeper, looooonger book, I knew it was time to return to this series and again I was not disappointed. A fun mystery that brought the reader deeper into the Lambspun world. Looking forward to the rest of the series, but will be disappointed when I run out of books! I hope Ms. Sefton keeps writing!
Typical for her books- I like the knitting and now spinning parts, and the recipes, but the mysteries are pretty lame.
Love the characters in this series
