Absolutely lovely, even in the opinion of this atheist. Lots and lots of pictures, large and small, to support each line of text, and so to be inclusive.
4 1/2 - beautifully illustrated. I don't think we appreciated the text as much as we did the style of the illustrations.

Neat to read to class if you are focusing on poetry. Lindbergh uses Saint Francis of Assi's poetry to honor the elements, animals, and heavens of creation.
The Circle of Days by Reeve Lindbergh. Epiphany library section 11 A: Pre-K, religion and character-building. The text of this book is from “Canticle of the Sun,” written in 1225 by St. Francis of Assisi, who was devoted to nature, especially animals and birds. In this lovely storybook his hymn of praise is illustrated with colorful cut paper pictures. Praise and thanks to God are given for our sun, clean water, wind, the fire that keeps us warm, food grown in our fields, our families, the birds, the trees. This makes a lovely bedtime prayer story for wee ones. Enjoy it with a child you know.
