Ned Warriner is a known Catholic sympathizer, yet he has secretly returned to England to search for the woman he loves, Kate Revill. Another year of exile on the Continent without her is unthinkable. Quite a good read, although the plot is a little intricate based on the underlying meaning of a letter written by Dr. John Dee. The essence of the period was well captured and most of the characters believable. ( )

Elizabeth Redfern has done a good job with her book Auriel Rising. The characters are loveable and the plot is interesting. ( )
