This was one of the first books in my personal library. I read these stories during my grade school years and loved them. The book is basically a collection of German origin fairy tales first published in 1812 by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the Brothers Grimm. The collection is commonly known today as Grimms' Fairy Tales and includes some famous tales like "Cinderella", "Rumplestiltskin", Briar Rose", "Rapunzel", and "Hansel and Gretel". Many of these stories are almost legend and existed in oral form long before collected by the Brothers Grimm. Ever since they have been enjoyed by young and old, and in spite of some violence, they are remembered fondly. ( )
