Since 1989, the Teachers' Choices project has developed an annual annotated reading list of new books that will encourage young people to read. These are books that kids will enjoy—and that show more contribute to learning across the curriculum. Goals  Develop an annual annotated reading list of new books that young people enjoy  Help teachers, librarians, booksellers, parents, and others find books that will encourage young readers to read more  Help teachers find books that can be used across the curriculum  Guide young people to books that they might not discover or appreciate without the help of a teacher, librarian, parent, or other adult Background Teachers’ Choices is an annual project of the International Literacy Association (ILA) that began in 1989. Each year, teachers, reading specialists, and librarians from different regions of the United States select books from new publications (donated by North American publishers) for readers ages 5–15. At least six teachers or librarians in each region read each book. show less
