About meI learned to read when I was four. My mother was expecting her 4th child and no longer had time to read me 20 books a day. Every photo since then, in the family album, I am holding a book. I've been reading a lot for a long time.
My first favorite author was Louisa May Alcott, followed by L.M. Montgomery, Jane Austen, and J.R.R. Tolkien. I love biography, historical fiction, non-fiction, essays, romance (think Georgette Heyer, not Danielle Steele) and everything in between.
Now that I'm all grown up and have 3 kids a husband and a small business, I don't read as fast as I used to. So many books, so little time.
Note to self: to put a photo on a thread use {img smc ="" }and put the image url between the quotation marks.

About my libraryIt's big and it's growing. I just can't help myself. One of my friends told me once that I was the only person they knew who would need a shopping cart in a bookstore. That might be true, but I'm pretty picky about what makes it into my library.

I almost missed your 5-year Thingaversary, Jenn! I hope you found some suitable books to celebrate with.
Wow, that's fantastic Jenn! Very exciting, and I'm sure a busy time of year just got a lot busier. I would love to be part of a NZ LT meet up, it's been mentioned vaguely in the past a few times but hasn't happened yet I don't think.

If I can be of any help when you get here (or before) feel free to get in touch.

Happy holidays!

Oooh exciting. My fingers and toes are crossed. You're not driving me nuts at all - my response time is so slow though! Am doing school lunches at the moment and typing on the iPad.

Books. Hmmm. The best overall history book is by Michael King, an excellent NZ historian who died a few years back. I think it'll be in my catalogue on here and book depository or amazon should have it. Dense but very thorough. I'll think of lots more but that's off the top of my head. Another really good author is James Belich but his stuff is more on the Maori wars of the 1800s. Save that for when you've got the big ideas down pat. Two good newspaper websites are - th Wellington newspaper - and the NZ Herald Suffice to say though that after 10 years away I still read the new York times whenever I get a chance!!!

Ok going to be late if I don.t stop typing. More thoughts later. I'll find you some blogs to read.
