Beatles Solo: The Illustrated Chronicles of John, Paul, George, and Ringo after the Beatles by Mat Snow
Four books of less than 100 pages each, this is a breezy, high-level overview of the four members' post-Beatle career, each launching with the 1968 conflicts that lead to Ringo being the first to walk away from the band, if only for a couple of weeks.
Each book follows a very workmanlike this happened, then this happened, then this happened approach doesn't win any points for in-depth insights or stellar writing. It's very much the literary equivalent to a McDonald's Combo meal: it's quick to show more get through (I got through each book in about 45 minutes), it's not the tastiest thing you can get, but it fills a hole and leaves you somewhat satisfied.
The nice production on the four books definitely elevated this from a three-star to a four-star rating.
A good intro to the post-Beatle careers, but there's much better out there. show less
