Most wolves belong to the same species, the gray wolf. This wolf once lived in North America , Europe, Asia, and the Arctic. A second kind of wolf, the red wolf, lives in te southeastern United States. The gray wolf is the largest wild member of the do family. It waighs 60 to100 pounds. and is covered with thick fur. With its long legs, a wolf stands taller than a dog.its eyes are golden yellow.To find their food, they use their noses, ears, and eyes. With its long snout, a show more wolf picks up a scent in the wind or the wind or the ground. ITs prey could be a mile or more away. The wolf listens carefully. It can turn its outer ears to catch sound from any direction. Once the wolf has spotted its prey, it begins the chace!! Wolves can fast. They run well even in snow. To capture its prey, the wolf uses its jaws and teeth. Powerful muscles open and close its jaws. These jaws are twice as strong as those of a large dog, such as a German shepherd!! show less
