Interesting, if somewhat academic and dry, look at the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Published in 1988, so don't look for current information about the state of Iran and how it fares since the Revolution. What's most interesting about Arjomand's discussion is the delving into Shi'ite Islam as well as the political fragility of Muhammed Reza Shah's government.
