Morris Edmund Speare (1884–1974)

Another great collection in the overlooked field of the short story. This brittle little edition contains offerings from 22 authors. These include Hemmingway, Somerset Maugham, Parker, O. Henry, Chekhov, Stevenson, Twain etc. Worth grabbing if you see it. (Or reading it if you own it.)

A nice little Whitman Sampler of short stories by a cross section of American and European authors. There's nothing in here that isn't found easily in other books but it's a nice omnibus that fits in your pocket. It had a good publishing run and is fairly easy to acquire second hand.
