Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out: Kids Living and Learning with New Media (The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Series on Digital Media and Learning) by Mizuko Ito
This is so interesting and a particularly great read for anyone who works with teens. I loved the case studies, and even when the book was a bit dry it still presented really wonderful information. Definitely worth a look.

The results of this project have been quoted ad nauseam in libraryland for years but just reading it, it feels like comedy, like an Onion News report about kids and computers. I grasp this study's import, but just to read it, it is hilarious.
Affinity Online: How Connection and Shared Interest Fuel Learning (Connected Youth and Digital Futures) by Mizuko Ito
This book is well worth the read, especially if you are interested in how online communities can shape us and curious about how we might all interact better online. I strongly recommend this book and look forward to referencing it in my further writings.

Hanging Out, Messing Around, and Geeking Out: Kids Living and Learning with New Media (John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Series on Digital Media and Learning) by Mizuko Ito
Research based resource that examines the "digital divide" between in-school and out-of-school technology practices. This book is different than most texts that I've read for my courses, such that it does not present practical applications for the class or library.
